Jim Marrs is not a Scientologist |340|

Well, Sci, I see a lot of parallels in the mind control techniques of Scientology applied to many, oh-so-many things. I started to write more, but I think you should be more specific?

Ah I was rushing a bit when I posted that, apologies.

Perhaps a different but related question can clarify what I was trying to inquire about -> Do you think the tactics used to spread Scientology and hold its members to account are also used by "skeptic" groups?

I think the best book I read about Scientology is Jon Atack’s book A Piece of Blue Sky, first published in 1990.

"Bare Faced Messiah" by Russell Miller is another good one. If you give that a read then Marrs' overall position becomes even more problematical.

1) We're clearly dealing with a psychopath here - if you doubt that just give it a read - so that should factor in to Marrs' admiration of his work (which is, just for the record, elsewhere noted by experts in the genre and other writers to be universally without merit and diabolically bad writing but that's perhaps another issue).

2) This point is worse for Marrs' overall position as someone calling on others to 'wake up' as it were: Hubbard was in league with the very forces Marrs' elsewhere condemns as agents of the NWO and the elite. He was certainly a cohort of Crowley's (not a significant black mark in my view but most 'Conspiracy Guys' seem to think so) and very likely had interactions with Intel and people who were more heavily embedded like Fleming.

At least that should give one pause.

My gut is that this is a kind of end game move for Marrs. We don't know what kind of bills he has, or what the financial position is for his immediate family. He's cashing in. I don't really have a problem with that, but it does put a tarnish on his life's work. But at this point he may just be saying "screw it." None of this is going to matter to him when he is dead. Cash is king and if he can get some to his family that otherwise would have been out of reach, then it may be a worthy compromise for him.

Perhaps, but when immoral scum like the CIA and Wall Street are orchestrating both the destruction and re-construction, it's a safe bet what they are building is not for your benefit.
not to belabor, but I don't think we have to believe they always orchestrate... they are in a perfect position to opportunistically take advantage of whatever turn fate hands out.

There was a British government site for the project that is now down. AFAIK, Ben Williams is probably the only source out there dedicated exclusively to AWARE II. But at the moment, he seems to be waiting for a page hosted by Parnia's workplace to go online.

Don't quote me on this, but I think that the actual recruitment stage of AWARE I ended on schedule. I recall that the part that took ages was writing the academic paper and having it accepted for peer review... I may be wrong (???), since back then my knowledge of -and hence interest in- NDEs was more superficial.

Anyways, the part that is supposed to end in May is the recruitment stage. The analysis and submission process should take several months after that.

Thanks! I'll have to check out Ben Williams site as things heat back up. I guess the Horizon and Nour sites were never very informative even during AWARE I. Also, what you said does ring a bell - I seem to recall the paper and peer review taking forever on AWARE I, as well.

Maybe later this year we'll start getting some news on AWARE II. Should be exciting!

agreed. some good points have been raised in this thread (as always :)). at the very least we have a unexplainable level of willful ignorance from a guy who based his whole career and smashing such paradigms.

agree...and disagree. LRH is clearly an unstable dude who get a lot worse as the years went by, but he seems to have had incredible charisma... makes you wonder about the magick stuff... creepy.

Then again, cults like Scientology work because we're all naturally easily manipulated, and because most people are inherently good. So, Scientologists (Mormons, 7th Dayers... all fundamentalist and quasi-fundamentalist) find comfort in all the good stuff and manage to look past the bad... we all get some of that... we all do some of that. I think Tom Cruise is a damn good actor... John Travolata had some good one too... it's not hard to see how people get sucked in...

yeah, as I reflect back on the interview I have a lot more questions for Jim.

Definitely. I think this is almost always the case. If it were otherwise they would do a perfect job with all 'black ops' that people whistleblow on. They never do. They always have to do some 'patching up' after (like the infamous passports in the rubble of the WTC or other such anomalies). If they were in control 100% from the get-go they would never have to frame the narrative or adjust it as they'd hve designed it perfectly every step of the way and no-one would ever see past it to suspect. They're not stupid - but much 'conspiracy theory' is based on the necessity that that are in order for the theory to fly.

Gosh. Hmm. I was right on board with this interview, right up to the point that this guy started espousing his political views. Hillary=Socialism, and Trump=Everything Our Founding Fathers Envisioned For Our Great Country. Are those pearls of wisdom from his top-notch investigative reporting? Or does the investigative journalism come in with his statement about all of the illegal voting in the last election? For someone who claims we're all mind controlled by the "liberal" media he sounds an awful lot like that other large non-liberal media outlet. First of all, let me tell you why Hillary didn't win the election, it had absolutely nothing to do with our rejection of the "march towards socialism" and everything to do with the fact that...Everybody hates Hillary Clinton! Even us Socialist Democrats didn't like her. Trump won because he ran against the absolute only person he could beat. Period.

And, unfortunately, because I listened to this interview on my radio instead of Skype, I was unable to witness the copious amount of drool coming out of Alex's mouth as he gushed all over this meatball.

This interview would have been better served on a ham radio.

What the hell has happened to this show? If fucking sucks now.

Over and out.

100 percent agree with you. Blue States filled with illegal voters or those who only want handouts from the government. Bring America back to it's golden -- legalized racism, sexism, nominal environmental controls, et cetera -- years? I love the general focus of Skeptiko and I don't assume that Alex agrees with everything all his guests say but, geezus, I don't know what Alex would have said if JM had asked to borrow a shovel to start digging for the Wall. I like to think Alex would have told him that Skeptiko ain't that kind of show ....

IDK... I continue to see the election as anti-globalism referendum. similar to what's going on in Europe. all other issues seem very minor... smoke screen.

Yeah but the Europe thing is not really that. Here in the UK it's been a steady drip drip drip of 'foreigners out' and a growing Nationalism. Most of it is based on Islamophobia (I would argue that's a key element in the US too, if only because of the Evangelical lobby that now essentially have power with Trump as a proxy) and France and Holland definitely are more extreme in this. Very possible that the National Front (ie Nazis... real ones) could win the election outright. Wilders (another racist bigot) only just lost in Netherlands (thank God).

I really have a hard time that people who buy into this sort of Nationalistic BS are nuanced enough to even know what Globalism is, let alone oppose it. They probably think it's a good thing. In some ways it is. I don't have any issue with it really.

On another note Alex I see you're catching some flak lately about the way the shows/guests are panning out - I've got a suggestion/request (for at least one show!): how about forgetting WHAT someone believes but getting into WHY they believe it. I reckon it could be fascinating. Personally I think we're now in a position where everyone has put their money on the horse and we can't do anything else but wait for the race to end. Might take centuries... but at this point, with Trump and fake news, no-one's going to shift on anything.

If I wasn't so crap I'd start a podcast grilling people about the 'why' rather than the 'what'. You seem like the guy to do it!

I think there's a wisdom of crowds thing going on... I think people have an intuitive sense of being stripped of freedom/rights... at least in the US. They may not be able to tell you how the Bush/Obama globalists destroyed the 4th amendment and made everyone think it's a good idea to have the gov spy on them, but they have a gnawing sense that it's not a good path to follow.

right... I mean, I don't think anyone should... it's inevitable :-J

That's definitely possible I guess but that plays into the same thing I was mentioning - always when you have a depression (say) coupled with a Nationalist outlook the populace are conditioned to not blame 'their own kind' so the foreigner gets in the cross-hairs instead.

I agree with you though that in the US there really is only one party - the one that gets in. Trump may have cleverly played on that (he's a souq trader after all) but it doesn't mean he understands it or that he has any real solutions. He just is very adept at seeing opportunities for himself. Getting to be POTUS was just one of them.

I
n the sense of a Star Trek-esque 'Federation' heading out to the stars as 'humanity' rather than (say) 'The US' - what's not to like? It's our destiny imo. ;)

...except, of course, the people who want to run it are psychopaths..

Well... yeah, there is that. Good point. Can't really argue that!

let me know... I will listen.

I suck. I'd need a like-minded partner and not so easy to find lol!

I figured someone far more senior here would have already posted this, but I thought some of you might want to know that Jim Marrs passed away last week.
