Brexit

Seems like the losers feel like winners, while the winners are feeling like losers?

Time to spell things out for the halfwit. “We need to remain calm,” Barnier said menacingly. Here was the deal. The EU hadn’t made any concessions because it hadn’t needed to. It was the UK that wanted to leave the EU, not the EU who had wanted to leave the UK. He had warned that there would be trouble if Britain left the EU, and if the Brits were stupid enough to go through with it, then they deserved everything they got. It wasn’t about the EU punishing the UK – it was just that the consequences of leaving the EU would inevitably be punishing.

The British have a thing about single issue voting on the basis of an emotional knee-jerk and they frequently end up paying for their stupidity. It should have been obvious that leaving the EU would likely cause more problems than it solved but the idiots just had to go ahead and now they are regretting it. I don't feel at all smug about it, it's my birth country and its self destruction just makes me feel sad.

I still don't quite believe it's going to happen, particularly the extreme version which means loss of access to the common market and loss of customs union. I mean thats crazy, it's already affecting my business, and will affect it a damn sight more as it approaches, and terribly so if it all comes to pass.

I think it's all terribly serious, and risks leaving the country I live in very badly damaged.

Sometimes the only way I can understand it is that the conservative government was hijacked by the right wing nationalists within the party. Like a sort of coup...

But I honestly I still don't understand what is going. I can put people on different sides... but can't quite work out what the pattern means... I wonder if there is a deeper game...

For instance I have Putin/Russia... what is his position with regards to the another Russian billionaire who owns the british Independent newspaper... who now also owns a 65% stake in the London newspaper the Evening Standard... which has recently hired George Osborne, ex MP and Conservative chancellor... who is now clearly undermining both May, and her Nationalist government through the papers editorial... Osborne dropped out just in time to avoid being tainted by association with the current government... meanwhile the current government looks like it's in both meltdown and denial...

I just wonder if there is another plan, even the BBC is railing against May... and they generally toe the middle 'establishment' line...

It's all just so surreal... to think this bunch of right wing politicians could ever hope to navigate the UK into better times, after completely jettisoning us from the EU. I wouldn't trust em to answer the phones in my business.

You're missing the point Max, you'll regain your sovereignty and that's much more important. Rejoice! Tell him, Bailey.

As I vaguely recall... I've somehow already given my own power away and can't get it back... even if I wanted to... something like that anyway... Melvyn did a great show on sovereignty towards the end of last year (topical subject - obviously), but working for the BBC, he didn't dare get too close to recent history... Definitely worthwhile listening to though, for anybody who has a spare 30 minutes...

I listen to this podcast every week.

I'm not as dedicated, only dipping in every few months to listen to any new podcasts over the period that catch my attention...
Yeah. Although I find some of the apparently less promising episodes are often very enjoyable. Incredible breadth of topics though.
