Upcoming Interview with Mary Rodwell + Introducing Liz (Skeptiko's assistant producer)

Hey there Skeptiko tribe,

Alex and I thought it was time I popped in to introduce myself to the community... so, here goes!

Hi, I'm Liz :) I've been behind the scenes since May helping to produce the weekly podcasts, and it's been such an awesome + enlightening experience so far! Like Alex, I'm also in the San Diego area, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in parapsychology + paranormal sciences - so Skeptiko's content is right down my alley!!

I'll be proactively assisting with Skeptiko's social media/forum from now on too, so you'll be hearing from me much more regularly. Part of that task is giving you all the inside scoop on the upcoming guests we've got planned for the show, and find out if there are any questions or topics you'd like to be covered.

Alex will be interviewing Mary Rodwell very soon (the podcast will be up in the beginning of August). Her son released a YouTube documentary about her earlier this month, which you can check out here:

If you have any specific questions for Mary or her work, let us know here!

And if you have any ideas for future guests or ideas for Skeptiko in general, please don't hesitate to email me directly: elizabeth@skeptiko.com

I'm really looking forward to reading all of your thoughts + insights with the shows we've got coming up and interacting with this community of Skeptikonians (lol :))

As I had mentioned in another thread, there seems to be a clear connection between trauma and anomalous phenomena. Good research into mediums shows that may of them experienced trauma during their lifetimes, often abuse. There are endless examples of OBEs caused by non fatal psychological or physical trauma from credible individuals. Individuals with past life memories have an inordinately high percentage of individuals which remember their past life death as being very traumatic. This comes from good research by Dr Stevenson. And “ghost” researchers along with paranormal investigators and a plethora of quality first hand testimony seem to suggest that traumatic events may cause some sort of “haunting” or poltergeist activity within the immediate vicinity later down the road.

Does Mary know of any connections between certain traumas and the contactee/abductees which she has studied?

thx Lizzy. I'm looking forward to this interview. Mary's stuff is super important... it's just hard to take-in... total game changer -- we're we're smack-dab in the middle of a genetic engineering experiment... and we ain't the ones wearing the lab coats.

Certainly that’s a strong possibility I think. But I’m cautious. These things are HIGHLY deceptive and constantly put contactees on wild goose chases telling them they need to save the world and spew all kinds of nonsense and an extraordinary amount of high strangeness which, quite frankly, seems to be constructed in a manner which is bizarre for the sake of being bizarre. The medical experiments seem crude and outdated sometimes (even by our standards)so I don’t fully trust anything they say, do, or show us. Face value? Not with ET. Extreme skepticism towards everything they say, do, and show us.

Another suggestion is that guy from "reverse speech" (David Oats). Don't know how valid it all is, but pretty interesting. Also, Greg from the "Higher side chats" (love that guy).

I saw them Wormwood, up close & personal (in their stupid ship), I saw the beings back in the 60's I was just a kid. No anal probes (God forbid)... those experiments seemed outdated to me also. BUT, had I not seen them myself I would think anyone saying that was nuts. Not that I don't believe in space people... just that they would come here to just a few people would sound sketch to me also (why not land on the W.house lawn?). But, they are real & they do come here, why? Don't know why. Or what they want.

I’d just like to know WHAT they are

G'day Liz

First - please get yourself an honest image, rather than Alex's keyboard. I don't get why so many folk go with what is not them. Why cant we share who ww are as well? (at least how we look some times)

I had a brief email interchange with Mary ages ago on the subject of what seemed to me to be repressed memories of 'abduction' but I was discouraged from following up by my apparent 'abductees'. So I am curious about whether she is aware of any active discouragement of follow up on experiences and what she makes of it.

Also there's the classic nuts&bolts v metaphysical ET/UFO - is it a case of either or, or both and? Why does she think what she thinks?

Mary, I gather, works with FREE. From what I pick up it very much supports the 'spiritual/metaphysical' side of ET. So what might be a definitive statement about where thinking is at the moment? What do they think can be said for sure and what are the open/unknown areas yet to be disclose for explored?

What is the intent of ET? From what has been figured out to date what can be said about the intent in contacting humans in the manner recorded?

Is there any evidence that ET is giving different levels of information/stimulation of ideas to different people? Is there any discernible pattern or logic that is emerging?

There is evidence that ET is contacting governments and individuals - chaotic or strategic?

If Mary had to sum up her impression of the ET/UFO phenomena in a single paragraph it would be?

Thanks for the welcome guys! I am looking forward to this interview too, these are some great discussion points and questions.

I would also be curious to know her take on why some individuals seem to have regular reoccurring contact when others do not, specifically the cases of those who have no prior interest in ET or UFO phenomenon that experience multiple abductions throughout their lives.

As far as my profile image goes, for privacy + personal reasons it will remain as-is; the internet can be a crazy place. ;;/?

totally get and acknowledge the reality of your point. I just think we have to balance that with the noise that we introduced to the signal... i.e. we are both intentionally (misinformation disinformation) and unintentionally misinterpreting the data.

The medical experiments seem crude and outdated sometimes (even by our standards)so I don’t fully trust anything they say, do, or show us. Face value? Not with ET. Extreme skepticism towards everything they say, do, and show us.
I've heard that but I don't know what to make of it... seems like a bunny trail.

On the other hand I think the latest bob lazar movie is super interesting in a way that I don't hear many people talking about... i.e. the technology he's describing is not 10000 years ahead of ours. it's a lot closer. perhaps we've misjudged how advanced some of these ET visitors are.

wow... sorry to hear. I will definitely try to get that one in.

thx for the others too.

good one. all these issues surrounding the differences in contact experiences seemed really important to me. we still seem to be stuck in this one group one agenda mindset. I didn't agree with everything to courtney browm said but one points that came through was this idea about agendas. if we can understand that we might have a different agenda than china then why can't we accept that different ETs might have different agendas.

Welcome to the forum, Liz!

I just wanted to point out that the video you posted at the top of this thread, will not play inthe UK (where I live).

I'm retired, but if I want to go back to work and I apply for a job, if they do an internet search on me and find out I have had experiences communicating with spirits I would have no chance of being hired if certain Christians or materialists were involved in the hiring process.

There is a materialist web site referring to me by a pseudonym I use saying I am schizophrenic. There is another web site run by Christians saying I am involved with demons.

And if I didn't care about the repercussions of that kind of bigotry, I don't think it is fair to subject my family to it.

There are multiple groups of "aliens" with different origins, characteristics, and agendas. It might be that some people find this confusing especially if they try to explain all the different phenomena as having one unified purpose.

One response to people like Mary's son who think belief in ET's is crazy is to educate them about the facts that a number of astronauts, as well as high ranking government and military officials believe that UFO have an ET origin.
