Alex Tsakiris: [00:00:06] Welcome to Skeptiko where we explore controversial science and spirituality with leading researchers, thinkers and their critics. I’m your host Alex Tsakiris, and you know, I’ve taken to letting Skeptiko listeners guide me on who I should talk to, and today’s show is a great example of how wonderful that can be, when you let other people take the reins.
I am almost embarrassed to tell you that I wasn’t aware of the tremendous body of work, you can see some of the books on the screen, that have been generated by the husband and wife writing team of Rob and Trish MacGregor. Both separately have each become award-winning authors, as well as together, have done some amazing work, and so many of the topics that we love to talk about here on Skeptiko and we like to dive into deeply as they have. So synchronicities, remote viewing, UFOs, ETs, spirit communication, astrology, a lot of other stuff that we haven’t talked as much about.
These folks are just a tremendous well of information, and as I just alluded to, it’s quality stuff. They crank out a lot of books, but there’s a lot of great stuff in these books. So I’m blown away, I’m super excited to have them on and to meet them and have a chance to talk to them.
Rob, Trish, thank you both so much for joining me on Skeptiko.
Trish MacGregor: [00:01:42] Well, thank you Alex. Now if our dog suddenly shows up in this picture, it’s because he’s right under the table here.
Rob MacGregor: [00:01:49] Thanks for inviting us.

Awesome. Can’t wait to dive in here shortly. It seems that no other paranormal or anomalous phenomena is married to synchronicity to the same extent or on the same level as that seen with the close contact/abductee UFO phenomena.

Somebody/some being(s) are obviously trying to get our attention. But why? And why through this bizarre and obscure channel of communication which seems totally bizarre for the simple sake of being bizarre and dumbfounding. It’s hard to decipher and seemingly intentionally crazy.

Great podcast as always, on the case of the preying mantis similar images plus intentions of organising/manipulating the brain happen with people experiencing DMT, need to see where other cross overs occur.

Some of the ET stuff discussed is quite disturbing. I suppose to suggest it is demonic in origin might be going a bit too far but personally my experience has taught me to with God's help (literally) avoid that realm. regardless of its source. Synchronicity however is another matter. To a Spiritually aware person it can have meaning and serve to guide him or her through a possibly pivotal time in life.

You want Praying Mantis Aliens and syncros - check this out - very entertaining and informative.

I haven't listened to the podcast yet so it may have been mentioned.

Several years ago, on New Year’s Eve, a tall, purple-robed praying mantis appeared to multidisciplinary artist Stuart Evan Davis as he meditated while running a fever. “Remember who you work for,” the entity said after beaming a zettabyte of information into Stuart’s febrile mind. Though it lasted less than a minute, the encounter sparked a series of life-changing -- and hair-raising -- events worthy of a Philip K. Dick novel.

JF and Phil talk to Stuart Davis to get his thoughts on nonhuman intelligences, the artistic cosmos, a movie trilogy the Mantis commissioned, and Stuart’s brilliant audio documentary, Man Meets Mantis.

Much of it is disturbing, and yet a lot of it seems to be very uplifting according to many experiencers. All in all though, it comes down to people being taken against their will. I would prefer caution in labeling these things as good (even if the abductee has a good experience) with that in mind due to this. It doesn’t mean that it can’t be good in some way we don’t understand. And Some people are even healed of ailments etc. while many others come away spiritually transformed. Even so, I hope it’s not something I’ll ever have to endure.

Hey Alex

Been waiting for this. Great chat, but you gotta have them back to explore how it all knits together. The more complex idea of synchronicity being an overall term has to be explored.

I like the idea that synchronicity is the consequence of some kind of active intelligence [how it manifests is another thing] engaging with individuals. My life has been full of synchronicities, consistently so. I have uploaded an account of one of the more spectacular experiences. For me such experiences are induced by an active intelligence - how is not something I have any clue about. Why is obviously to get to think about what I have experienced.

Hi Michael
About synchronicity,I cant get over the feeling its the same cause as the pulse/wave change in the double slit experiment.
Look and there is nothing there, look away and all sort of stuff starts happening, one big cosmic joke happening behind our backs.

In terms of just awe-inspiring content, 10 plus. Not only that, but it was entertaining, just like what ET gets into. But, Alex, you raised a good point. What's the purpose, who's controlling it, & so on. Humans incarnate for many reasons, but the most obvious one to me is to be free. How do we do that? By being as close to the Source as we can be, becoming our real Selves. In other words, being truthful, compassionate, & forgiving. So I really liked the explanation about reincarnation as a way of exploring our attachment issues IN THIS LIFE. What good is knowing about the reality of our past existences unless it helps here & now? People reject reincarnation b/c it feels too restrictive. OMG! I have to keep coming back here to get it right, when? So, let's face it: we get it right when we get it right. In the meantime, the stage is set for us to have all kinds of fun while we make progress. After all, we are here to LIVE!

That broadcast was crammed with ideas, I'll obviously have to listen to it again. Maybe long videos could be split into two parts?

Alex, the way you laughed about the idea of astral sex, I had to wonder if you have experienced it (you don't have to reply) :)

I have only experienced lucid dreaming once for a few seconds, so I didn't have time for that! However I have had a couple of very romantic conventional dreams that were obviously heading in that direction, but I awoke too soon.

I tried probing a couple of times...

you really have to read the whole account. I wish I could remember which book it was in. the the part about him making notes of his extraordinary experience and his wife discovering them was hilarious.

wow... great point. I always remember this interview:
Brad Warner teaches his Zen students ancient ... - Skeptiko

Brad said (paraphrasing) "ok let's say for sake of argument reincarnation is true... so what... you're here now and have to do what you have to do"
I'm not sure the "so what" is quite appropriate. Without going into the topic at length, the "you're here now and have to do what you have to do" requires that we know what we're here to do. Also. without knowledge of the reality of reincarnation, life can be simply baffling for those born with previous issues which overwhelm their every attempt to be "normal". Sometimes there is a need to know which cannot be ignored.

But how would one know?
As I may have mentioned in a repliy to another Skeptico show, I had some experience with a woman who was, what is termed by modern professionals as, "bi polar". I prefer to use an older term, that of, "being possessed by a demon". Anyone who has ever been confronted with such an entity presenting itself in a person who is normally familiar to him or her will never forget the experience. The unwarranted hatred exuded by by the demon toward them. This is where a person's Christian faith is put to the test, and wins! The Lord's Prayer, the Jesus Prayer recited meaningfully is all it takes to disperse (banish) the demon. God loves those who are His children.

Brad didn't actually say that :-) that was my interpretation

Since synchronicity is defined in brief as meaningful coincidence, the question we need to ask when one occurs is what is the meaning. Is it guidance in the sense of telling us that we’re on the right path? Or is it a warning to tell us that we are straying from the path, what Kurt Vonnegut called in Cat’s Cradle, a false Karass or a granfalloon. Sometimes it’s not so easy to decide which one it is...or is it something else altogether?

We originally included the out-of-body adventures of Wesley Meeks in a book called, BEYOND STRANGE. We put the part about his journey to the Akashic records—which turned into the best sexual experience ever—on our blog, synchrosecrets, and it stirred quite the controversy. We liked that story so much we included it again in PHENOMENA in the chapter on out-of-body experiences.

Love this, Michael. I remember writing it up. Thank you also for the recommendation to Alex. His show was one of the best we've had!
