Hello everyone,
As the author of two of the above named websites/blogs, I felt that I should weigh in here. First let me give you background on the origin of the blog that consumed three years of my life and why. I 'met' Kevin Annett over the internet as I had heard about his film Unrepentant and wanted to show it at a mini-fringe film festival where I lived. I spoke with him several times via email and he was very willing to have me show his film and to sell copies of his film at the festival but I would have to pay up front and buy a minimum number in order to proceed. Several other filmmakers had sold me or given me copies of their documentaries and allowed me to make copies to give away to people which was the intention I had. As I was considering my funds, a fellow blogger wrote me and told me I'd better look into his claims. I knew a little bit about the Residential School travesty and so thought my friend was full of crap and wasn't seeing the bigger picture. After all, I worked in a hospital in the heart of an urban reserve and so I saw how the Residential School trauma affected the survivors and their children. I saw a video of Kevin at an Occupy Toronto gathering where he gave an impromptu speech about justice for the murdered indian children at a Res school called "the Mush Hole". He proceeded to take some bones out of his coat pocket and proclaim "these are the bones of native children", dug up from a "mass-grave" at the Mush Hole grounds. I was apalled that the bones of dead native children would have spent any amount of time in an ex-minister's (and white man to boot) pocket. If these were truly human remains of children who were murdered then they were also evidence of a crime and in desperate need of investigation and then repatriation to whichever family had lost their little one. But no, instead, this man decides that pulling a dead childs remains out of his pocket is a way to rile up the dispossessed with a few bucks in their pocket that they might just throw his way. So, I did some digging into his claims and listened to his interviews which spiked after the Occupy stunt and decided to call him out on his claims. Thus the blog was born, and what I discovered was more depressing, frustrating, disgusting, frightening and mind-blowing than I ever could have imagined. To summarize briefly, he has spent the last 8 years conning people (mostly women) into giving him whatever he asked for, and he managed to turn the whole dead native kids racket into lies about getting the Pope to step down, and arresting pedophile child sacrificing cult members en-masse, to blaming the Jesuits for all of it. He branched out into fringe conspiracy theorists who were into cryptocurrency, to New Earth/Free Energy and other Utopian projects (scams). He convinced several women to fund his travels and he spent several years travelling to the Netherlands, Italy, Great Britain and Ireland where he had a willing and eager support base of angry victims of clergy abuse. He claimed to have set up a world-wide tribunal with an address in Brussels and aligned himself with far-right Nationalists who gave Nazi salutes, and Conspiracy Theory circuit celebs like Alex Jones and David Icke. And all the while, people fawned over his hard luck story of how he got kicked out of the United Church, but nobody seems to care that he stole the victim statements made at an actual Tribunal into Residential Schools (before the government of Canada did their version of Truth and Reconciliation) and used them without permission to write his book and produce his film. So, in short, the people he took money and trust from, he abused and slandered (including natives in Canada and the U.S.), all the while taking money from well meaning folks who wanted the dirty deeds of the religious institutions brought to light. I've been called a "disinfo agent" and worse and have been threatened with my life and livlihood by people loyal and working with Kevin Annett. But I will never take my site down, because I know that the people he has hurt deserve to have their story heard and that
no victim of the Indian Residential Schools needs a white man claiming to be a man of god who did nothing but use their suffering to make himself a household name....to speak on their behalf and give them justice.
What's interesting is that there's more evidence of his followers getting arrested than the so called 'bad guys' he claims to be rounding up with his Direct Action Units..
