Excellent episode. Thank you Alex!

Some thoughts:

Deep Underground Bases were across my "crazy line" until I studied Ben Davidson's cyclical solar micro-nova hypothesis at https://suspicious0bservers.org. Now I think Elites know the periodic earth-scrape-off is coming soon. Going underground is the only way to ensure survival.

DMT is no proof of extended consciousness. I've abused ALL the drugs except Ayauascha. The first time you inject Heroin it feels like God is literally cradling you in His arms and lovingly stroking your head. PCP and shrooms give incredibly realistic hallucinations. MDMA gives a feeling of Love that is indescribable.

"You made a Contract" to do the Earth Experience. I agree. This seems to be the case.

Your hostility to Christianity is excessive. For 2,000 years rural, illiterate people found it a useful, beneficial Narrative for comprehending the world and living spirutually, just as rural, illiterate people in India used the Vedic stories. It prevented your Grandma from needing to be a scholar or have Wikipedia.

As a kid I HATED the Evangelical Christianity culture of New Orleans I was raised in. I saw it as bullying, and became a hard-kore F.U. Atheist Materialist. Syncromysticisms around the age of 40 cured me of Materialism. Sheldrake helped me begin to appreciate Christianity.

I was unable to find Renee Alsop's paper on the correlation between Astrology and Twitter Popularity at http://scientificexploration.org , The Journal of Scientific Exploration.

"Why Does Evil Matter?" - because without it we would not have the Freedom to use our Free Will to choose Good or Bad. This di-electic is necessary for Freedom to exist.

Nice interview, quite a few things to talk about. I guess I missed the episode about astrology (or did I misheard there was one?). I started looking into astrology after reading Jung. Modern western stuff (at least what I saw) is sooo fluffy and vague, ugh. But after seeing this episode with Alex's frenemy Shermer
I started looking into vedic astrology quite seriously. It is actually very complicated, has a lot of "left-brain" stuff; quite fascinating actually.

As I understand it, at least in the tradition that I am following, stars are a reflection of the part of your karma you chose to deal with in this life time. It is not really written in stone, there is room for free will (otherwise how would you create new karma?), but it does lay our a territory so to speak, some more difficult and fixed, some less.

There is also something like "as long as you incarnate, you will keep creating karma, even if you are a saint". Only if you are ready and say I had enough, then you can merge with the absolute (I probably distort the teachings as I am total noob in this area).

So as I see it, stars do not really fix your fate, at least not in a fixed literal sense. That it is at all possible is not that surprising if we really are parts of one big consciousness - all is sort of entangled. However, it is still weird that you would have clues in the sky as to your tendencies and life circumstances - maybe the kind Supreme has left such clues to escape the Gnostic archons, i.e., understand and improve ourselves. Who knows.

it's from awhile back. here's a link

Thanks, Alex. That was interesting too. So she failed in your reading, huh. In my school they say the maximum accuracy is about 75% and give some complicated reasons for it, which I was not able to comprehend (yet). One reason I got into it is to actually statistically test it, but found it is way more complicated than I thought. Maybe some day.

yes. The one on one reading wasn't so great :-) I'm always amazed when astrologers get thrown off their game by this. I'm glad she went forward with the interview I think her research is important

I don't know what to make of astrology, there may well be a lot to it, or not. I just don't know. It leaves me flummoxed.
I did read John Anthony West's The Case for Astrology (there was an earlier edition with a co-author Toonder, I read the later more updated one, West as sole author), published decades ago now. I recommend it whatever you think of the topic. Fairly thorough and elucidates on the modern skeptical response to astrology. And his own response to that.

There is the astronomer Percy Seymour in the UK who puts forward the magneto-tidal resonance theory on astrology, his own idea here, which is certainly original and provocative, he is a rare modern astronomer who takes astrology seriously. He used to be a skeptic, I don't know what changed his mind.... If I remember right, it may have been Michel Gauquelin's work (which has featured in the JSE, I don't know how well it holds up today, I remember some criticisms of Gauquelin after he died by previous supporter/s, but cannot remember this offhand, and how it has played out). I have Seymour's one book on the paranormal (he takes it seriously).

Interesting that Charlie P came to abandon atheism by his experiences with synchronicities. Yes when I think of the weird synchronicities related by others and in my own life, it really is mind blowing and I don't see how a scientific materialist hypothesis can explain it. I have never heard of anybody coming to Christianity via Sheldrake! That's a first for me. In Charlie's case it is back in the fold. I know Sheldrake is an Anglican, and has co-authored stuff with Matthew Fox, but in my mind (as with Alex), that's a negative. I am possibly not as hostile to Christianity as Alex, but am not far behind.

I know Sheldrake is an Anglican

Not really. I get the impression he's more of an Idealist. He just likes the church aesthetic.

I know very little about that because the only times I ever visited a Catholic Church I was drunk and don't remember it well.

I suppose Anglican and Orthodox churches are similar, but don't really know. I've only seen them on television.
