Dark Matter vs UFO Evidence

Reluctantly, popular media must now confess that last decade's popular Theory Of Everything, String Theory, is probably being archived in the Fringe / Para Science and dropped as a mainstream hypothesis. It takes a long time for Mainstream Science & Media to "prove" observations on Reality. It's very difficult to change the tide of universal Scientific assumptions as a great deal of money and pride have been invested into making these ideas true.

Presently, known big-project Scientists are either entrenched in looking down an elaborate microscope for Higgs-Boson's "God" particle (an ironic name for the scientific quest to discover God in an atomic form). What is beyond Science's dreams in space has become an equally expensive quest to prove the existence of highly theoretical substance, "Dark Matter".

Meanwhile, unexplainable UFO phenomena that threaten everything we know to be real might happen within touching distance each day. It results in hundreds of thousands of witness testimony cases each year.

As Zeuss once said to Narcissus, "Look Out"

How is it irony that the the initial phrase for the Higgs-boson was changed because the publisher thought it would get more of a shock value by naming it "god particle" instead of "goddamn particle"? The media just ran with it and you get all sorts of sensationalist articles trying to tie the misuse of the phrase to something to do with god being found or some spiritual nature of particles. When they discovered the Higgs-boson there was a sign on a local church that read, "Science has discovered God! He was in a particle all along!" and you can search for any other number of ridiculous interpretations. There was never a search for god in this scientific quest to find a missing particle that was a big hole in the standard model. The quest was to increase mankind's understanding of nature. The only irony was the search for the Higgs-boson was biblical, in that it took the effort of many, many people, over the course of decades, to discover a crucial part of nature and increase our knowledge.

So, it's much less ironic than it is misused.

I would recommend the book, "The Higgs Fake".

Although the author is not a theoretical physicist, he clearly knows a lot about the subject. He makes a strong argument (IMHO) that the Higgs and related particles (which are only supposed to exist for approx 10^(-25) of a second - not enough time for a photon to cross the diameter of a proton) are experimental artefacts! He also claims that the tower of obscure theories leading up to the Higgs are probably also junk.

UFO's are definitely interesting - whether they are physical or psychic in some way.

Thanks Travis and David for your good ideas.

Have you ever asked around what people think The Sun is?

Maybe I'll ask you guys: "What is The Sun?"

lol. And you don't get that Lederman was being facetious when he stated that? He even added that there was a second reason he'd coined the term.

I'm curious, where are you going with this?

To me, the pursuits of a Higgs Boson and Dark Matter ideas will be proved if someone in charge decides it needs to be proved. And it will be proven, because you can argue anything you like, even through scientific methods.

It appears as though there only seem to be weak scientific guesses at what happens at the small or big ends of what can be measured, if we indeed must measure it all to know anything.

Science dogma is much more publicly digestible than traditional Religious dogma in modern Western life. The side effect is that in your short lifetime you can't take a stab at the idea of what is going on yourself without being instantly told you are wrong.

Most people are pleased to regurgitate whatever is in the science news at the time as absolute truth. What most people accept as Fact is very superficial. Everything else is just plain crazy.

I'd like to know, what's more crazy?

Try asking around, just to see what people say. It's easy and it's fun. Ask them "What is The Sun?".

It's strangely mind shattering to the average person. Behold as they cling to bizarre and irrational ideas. Popular ideas.

NASA disciples and hipster fans of Neil DeGrass Tyson (wow, have you seen Cosmos? *sigh*) seem to not have properly considered the biggest thing you can look at with your own two eyes. They were told early in elementary school about gas ball of fire and they're sticking with that, sticking hard, all the way.

I've heard all sorts of entertaining but limited answers to that question, like the Sun is "a burning piece of ice in the sky", and its "a burning rock". Then there is silence and they go to the NASA website straight after. If it's burning, what's it burning? There's no air.

I think our Sun is a great place to start looking for answers....and if you are one of those that thought the Sun is a great big piece of ice in the sky that has caught fire, then why not explore the subject of UFO's? You're already utterly bonkers.

You bring up some interesting points, and if its rejection of scientism your after, you've come to the right forum! Not to say any here (that I've come across anyway) reject science, we reject the notion that science is always correct. And it's true, most people do accept whatever they are fed by the MSM, their schools and whatever institution is in the business of telling the masses "how it is".

I think a great deal of the forum members here are educated in the history of sun worship to some extent, and even Alex recently posted an interview about the same.

But a funny thing happens when you really start to doubt and question whether the true nature of reality really is what you've been told it is. It seems the further you dig down, the stranger and more convoluted it all gets. My current stance is that absolute truth, here in this space-time, is virtually impossible to discern. And the more you try to find some kind of truth to hang on to, the more slippery reality gets. If one isn't careful, it's exceedingly easy to start to go a little nuts. I don't think that is by accident either.

For whatever reason, illusionment seems to be a sort of necessity in this reality. In other words, we have to believe in the truth of the illusion in order to do whatever work it is we are here to do.

I will grant the above is a highly metaphysical and presumptive view. Maybe none of that is true. But the further I dig, the more this seems to be the case.

So, what is the sun? Well, I think it can be seen as many things. Is the sun an entity? Is it conscious? Is it even real? It is a giver of life, without which we could not be here, so is it god? Is it a mental representation of God? Or is it just an indifferent, nonconscious ball of hot plasma?

Thanks - Hilton Ratcliffe (who is new to me) also has an interesting blog.

From Hilton's blog
"No, there’s nothing cunning about it. Mathematics is a language, a way of describing things in nature using symbols, quantities and units of measure. It’s just fancy arithmetic. Like any language, it doesn’t exist in nature, it’s simply a mental construct used by human beings to communicate ideas. "

This. X100. I'm so glad to see an intellectual reiterate this. So many people follow Plato in the belief that mathematics are the *only* thing that is real, whether they realize it or not. Funny how so few intellectuals realize that mathematics is exactly what he says here: a human construct.

Great link David (and Mazda). Thanks for posting his info here.

I'm sure most of the posters here would enjoy the Virtue of Heresy
Its very insightful, well written , has an extremely easy flow & is not technical. ('Truth is always Simple' imo)
It's dedicated to Fred Hoyle, Halton Arp ( So that should be an indication for some of the philosophy within.)
& to Paul Marmet - whom I had not heard off, but who was another Heretic:

I would recommend the book, "The Higgs Fake".

The intro blurb:
"Unzicker, a German physicist and award-winning science writer, argues that the greatest physicists such as Einstein, Dirac or Schrödinger would have considered the 'discovery' of the Higgs particle ridiculous."

Given that A - it smacks of "mind-reading" and, more importantly, B - Einstein also considered "spooky action at a distance" ridiculous, that's not exactly a compelling lead-in.
