There have been a few US presidents that I really liked - Jimmy Carter, Obama in his early years, and Donald Trump. I think President Trump is amazing in pushing through an agenda for the people and not letting those with special interests force business as usual.

Anyone who wants to know about Strzok, or the IG report about the FBI/DOJ should listen to Fox News - actually most of it isn't really news - Fox were discussing these texts months ago - they were simply ignored or played down by much of the rest of the media.. I'd say that news that serior people in the FBI were plotting to subvert the democratic process is a gigantic story!

Since Strzok had a senior position in the FBI, investigating Trump, I think you would need to argue that answer in a little more detail :)

David

Well, based on the election result, he clearly didn’t have the power to follow through did he?

Well people can go to jail for attempted murder as well as murder. Hopefully a number of people will go to jail for treason for trying to use the FBI to swing an election.

Who knows how big Trump's majority would have been without the likes of Strzok trying to interfere. Strzok had his vote, the same as any other US citizen, but that wasn't enough for him - he wanted to use his position in the FBI to fix the result.

If the US can't stop that sort of thing, and make those responsible pay for their crime, how long do you think democracy will last in your country?

Today I’m kicking off the #WalkAway campaign by releasing my video about why I am walking away from liberalism and the Democratic Party. It is my sincere hope that you will join me in this campaign and that we may start a movement in this country- which not only encourages others to walk away from the divisive left, but also takes back the narrative from the liberal media about what it means to be a conservative in America. It is up to all of us to make our voices heard and reclaim the truth.

The Democratic Party has taken for granted that it owns racial, sexual, and religious minorities in America. It has encouraged groupthink, hypocrisy, division, stereotyping, resentment, and the acceptance of victimhood mentality. And all the while, they have discouraged minorities from having independent thought, open dialogue, measured and informed opinion, and a motivation to succeed.

Scott Adams recorded a video today where he discusses ways humankind has devised to remove bias from decision making processes. Scientists use the scientific method, engineers use math, the legal system has rules defining how trials are conducted, but politics used to have a system for removing bias which is now broken. Adams says the news media used to help remove bias from politics but their business model has changed and now they can only make money by injecting greater bias into politics.

The Cass Sunstein Psyop that is "QAnon"

Trump’s failed promises to “drain the swamp” should have angered Conservatives. Instead, the anger has largely been diverted and redirected, thanks to an internet phenomenon known simply as “QAnon.”

Since the phenomenon began, the posts of the anonymous “Q” have engaged in the construction of a parallel reality — one where Robert Mueller is actually investigating Hillary and Bill Clinton; several other high-profile, corrupt Democrats will soon be shipped off to Guantanamo Bay; swamp monster John Bolton is actually “cleaning up” Washington; and Julian Assange of WikiLeaks has been “rescued” from the Ecuadorian embassy in London.

Despite QAnon’s having been proven wrong repeatedly, its following remains large and the phenomenon itself remains influential.

Robert Martin: "QAnon has worked to rehabilitate some of the most tarnished and scary neocons to all of a sudden be heroic figures.” Among the figures who have been promoted by QAnon as heroes resisting the “deep state” include Blackwater founder Erik Prince, Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz, Attorney General Jeff Sessions and former Mayor of New York City turned Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

In fact, Martin asserted that QAnon appears to be an evolution of a proposal once put forth by Cass Sunstein, who had urged the government infiltration of anti-government and anti-establishment groups and, as Salon noted at the time, would manipulate such groups in order to increase citizens’ faith in government officials and undermine the credibility of “conspiracists.”

Martin asserted that QAnon has manifested as a means of “purposeful disinformation made to distract or control conspiracy movements,” going so far as to call for “military control” to stop the “deep state” all while being promoted by influential news organizations among Trump supporters at the behest of the White House.

Indeed, the White House specifically asked Alex Jones to have his Infowars Washington bureau chief, Jerome Corsi, report extensively on QAnon postings and interpret them for the Infowars audience. Since late last April, both Jones and Corsi have claimed that the Q account was “seized” by the “deep state” and is no longer credible.

Regime change in Iran is diametrically opposed to the “Make America Great Again” mantra that espoused ending foreign entanglements abroad in order to improve the country’s domestic situation. A war in Iran would not only waste vast amounts of American taxpayer money, it would do nothing to help the situation of the average American worker, instead enriching the weapons manufacturers.

QAnon has turned reality on its head by manipulating a desire among many Americans for an end to Washington corruption. It is arguably a modern psyop like no other.

Instead of a special counsel the justice department has appointed federal prosecutor John Huber to investigate criminal wrong doing by the previous administration. This has many advantages to a special counsel, primarily it will bring prosecutions faster. Huber is not in the news much because his office is not leaking to the media.

Professor Jonathan Turley, a top national legal expert on government investigations, commented on Thursday about Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ decision to bring in U.S. Attorney John Huber. Turley called it “brilliant”to combine all the powers of the U.S. Department of Justice’s inspector general with a prosecutor who can bring charges, seek indictments, and get results for President Trump far more quickly than a second special counsel.
...
Sessions sent a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-VA), House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC), and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA), informing them that Huber is conducting a full-fledged criminal investigation into all the matters Republicans are calling for a special counsel to investigate. Huber has been investigating these possible crimes for five months, since November 13, 2017.

I liked Scott Adams' talk (though his delivery leaves something to be desired). I particularly liked his initial observation that politics had lost a mechanism to reduce bias.

If Qanon is keen to attack Iran, he/she loses my support, but i don't think the president is in favour of such an approach - he seems to achieve his aims by more subtle means.

It is not in the news much in the US but there are a lot of protests in Iran right now. I don't know much more than that.

Right. If there was any other president in power, I would fear the next step would be for the US to provide military support for opposition groups.....

I am reasonably confident that President Trump won't go down that line.

I am not a lawyer but I think these types of crimes take a long time to prepare before anything interesting is visible to the public. It's not like a robbery where the police get a search warrant, find the stolen merchandise in the suspects home, arrest him right away and you read about it in the morning paper. In this case, investigators have to interview suspects and many witnesses and collect and analyze huge numbers of documents. They have to build a case they can present to a grand jury which will decide if the case should go to trial. So they have to prepare the case meticulously first before anything interesting can happen. And they don't hold weekly press conferences saying what the status of the investigation is. So it is understandable that the public thinks nothing is going on even though there might be quite a lot happening.

President Trump does not decide whether or not the CIA & MI6 fund the current insurrection in Iran.

I suppose I hope that the president is on top of a lot of the deep state. He chose the current head of the CIA, and I guess he did that for reasons that he is not going to describe. He also knows the ways that presidents have been deceived in the past.

I was amazed in retrospect at his way of treating the accusation that the Syrian armed forces had used chemical weapons (just as they were winning, and at the point when the only way that could really screw up that win, would be if they used chemical weapons)! His response reminded me of Judo, where you use your opponent's moves against them. The end result was that he killed virtually nobody (maybe nobody at all), and that the handover of Syria to Russian control was able to continue - and none of his opponents knew how to criticise him.

He realised that while Washington is full of warrior types that like to plan military mischief, they all live comfortable lives and have families that they do not want to lose in a nuclear conflagration. So he pretended to take them all seriously - give them what they wanted - and by the time they realised that he hadn't given them a war, they were just happy that he hadn't precipitated a nuclear war!

Western hawks are really despicable - they lust after war so long as it is at least 5000 miles away from them and their families. He exploited that insight to defeat them.

I'd wager that he won't attack Iran, but will somehow defuse the problem.

Most q followers agree that at least some of what q posts is disinformation. I follow q because I find it interesting, but I don't know how much is true and am waiting for events to confirm or disprove what q posts.

Here is a recent post from Q. I don't understand all of it but part of what he is saying is that the text messages released by the DOJ do not include any from high level Obama officials. When congress gets those it will be a huge embarassment for the swamp.
