Trump Consciousness

There is no truly viable replacement for oil at this point in time, and every alternate energy source also impacts the environment. Apart from the many jobs lost on both sides of the border, there is also the issue of how to best lower greenhouse gas emissions (at least that is what Kerry says is a concern).

Canadian companies have developed net-negative carbon capture technologies, so Canadian oil is more environmentally friendly than oil that has to be shipped to North America. It is also much safer, uses less energy, and is more cost efficient to transport oil via pipeline as opposed to shipping it across the ocean or using trains to transport it across the continent.

Except none of that is what the Keystone XL pipeline is for. The Keystone XL pipeline is for shipping crude oil from the Alberta tar sands - the most expensive to extract, most environmentally harmful, most carbon producing oil you can find. As you pointed out, there are better carbon options, even for oil. And it's still an investment in foreign oil, rather than homegrown energy. Alberta is just using the US refineries and ports in order to distribute their crappy oil more widely - the only way to make it profitable. Whatever happened to "America First"? I would have thought everyone would be happy over Biden's plan to invest in America, instead.

You've been debunked.

  • The “dirtiest oil in North America” is not produced in Canada, but just outside Los Angeles, where the Placerita oil field generates about twice the level of upstream emissions as Canadian oil sands production.
  • The world’s dirtiest oil is the Brass crude blend from Nigeria, where uncontrolled release of methane during the oil extraction process generates upstream GHG emissions more than four times higher than Canadian diluted bitumen.
  • Thirteen oil fields in California, plus crude oil blends originating in at least six other countries, generate higher levels of upstream GHG emissions than Canadian blends.
  • Crude oil from Alaska’s North Slope, which at that time made up about 12 per cent of California’s total crude slate, is “dirtier” than Canadian diluted bitumen.

As far as America First goes, there are about 100,000 American jobs on the line.

Reactions: K9!

I stand corrected. Out of the hundreds of suppliers, there are a handful of dirty outliers including Canada's oil sands. And a few of the dirty outliers are as bad as, or worse than Canada's dirty oil. And those dirty outliers are somewhat less dirty than they were in 2009. So even though the oil sands are consistently in the top 5 or higher of the outliers, and they are still much dirtier than the rest of the suppliers, somehow we are supposed to rebrand them as clean, according to the Petroleum Industry? LOL

As far as America First goes, there are about 100,000 American jobs on the line.

I doubt that. The job estimates specific to the pipeline numbered in the thousands for construction, and were temporary. And the estimates for maintenance of the pipeline numbered in the dozens. And if you are trying to include the jobs of people involved in processing/refining/shipping the oil, those jobs won't be lost for that reason. There are other sources of dirty oil to process, including US sources, if that's your thing.

I disagree with what Charlie said somewhere of communism and facism not being the same. They are just different hierarchical structures. I think communism (at best is a flawwed way of societal structure governance/operations) but in the forties was on par with nazism. Different sides of the same coin that couldnt co-exist. Same outcomes and sinerstism but from opposite angles. Hitler or Stalin? What sort of a question is that?

As mentioned i think a communist way of structuring operations in a society is bound to fail even with all the best intent, nedalone, for example, the CCP putting China's muslim community in concentration camps, amongst other broad ranging crimes. The islamic way of living from a normal point of view (putting insane terrorists aside) is really not my cup of tea. Does that mean i should sit idely by getting on with business while millions are herded into concentration camps under god knows what circumstaces??

Bad situation and stench (including current administration) that comes out of certain individuals in the US, it needs to be the world superpower as it has a constitution that is good (with excellent clarifications of natural law), a constitution known and revered by people as well as individual freedom is part of the culture. Society on the whole is nowhere near living by the tenents of that constitution but still, on the whole, it is miles better than the likes of China, Iran etc, or even the EU

I think what some in the US might do well to reflect on tho is that, as they know, their ancestors were heading out West with all the all encompasing dangerous circumstances they where exposing themselves to, at least as a possibility (scalping Indians, without ignoring the traversty inflicted on the Indians of America but am saying scalping Indians because that is what your average man or woman or child was faced with on the journey, not to mention crocodiles, bears, stampeding buffalos etc). On the other hand tho the average pioneer had an abundance of food and raw materials as well as space to live in, which a huge ocean of very untouched land provided. Now think of the tenements in East London say around the same era. Working people even after long shifts in sweat shop conditions went home to a few square meters of a room, no sewage or running water, barely enough money for them to feed and clothe their family (if they were very lucky) or themselves, and these people had been working all day. Just be a bit overstanding with branding declarations of someone who might have joined a social club with the intent of improving peoples miserable lot. I doubt you could of ate anything out the Thames either as the sewage system was slop bowl on the crowded street but everything else the densely packed urban city produced, which was waste, went in the river. Not much chance of leaving town either and finding a field as that was privately owned by a few and you couldnt go there, and had very little chance of ever affording even if it was for sale. Please bare above in mind when categorising and condemning others even if their social club's political governance philosophy is seriously flawwed. Watch out for bad actors tho innit.

This has opened up another can of beans in my current thought process. I think as long a transition can be made to sustainable energy (like a small solar panel powering a house which is technologicaly possible at this very moment), that is where things are going but if you're going to replace the petro dollar, which to my understanding allows the US a lot of it's economic leverage you would need to have something to replace it with. Make no mistake sanctions and economic pressure can be much more humane and effective (short and longterm) than any army could accomplish, at least in many instances. Then again you need an army to back that up as national security. Going back to the issue of what is the replacement for the petro dollar?? Or maybe US and oil industry doesnt need a 10-20 year transition period and the planet and it's inhabitants will be a lot cleaner for it if the sustainable energy strategy is done right (not part of some cult agenda) in full mode from now? Also the CCP makes a lot of money off a hazardous to humans (with very low health and safety standards in case of accidents) polluting chemical industry. What's up with that?

Also lets say there was no evidence of voting fraud in the recent US election which there very much seems to be. The whole world now knows (even if it was happening before) that the US democratic process goes through a computer system and software. Anyone with half a brain cell knows, particularly the younger generations that are computer savvy of all the cookies, small print contracts, hacks, software back doors, algorhythms etc, etc, etc that nothing is necessarily as it seems. Even without evidence of voting fraud, that digital method alone, with all the possible security measures and transparency in place, places a dark cloud over the validity of the democratic process which decides the US governance and it's standing with logical beings worldwide

Said detractors when casting votes went from in person verbal comms to handwritten paper ballots.

Said detractors when hand written paper ballots were replaced by preprinted ballots.

Said detractors when preprinted ballots were augmented by digital voting boothes.

So will say detractors when future technologies offer improved methods of facilitating voting.

On and on it goes.

Two Ohio state lawmakers suggested designating June 14 as “President Donald J. Trump Day” to honor the former president.

“Let’s show the 3,154,834 Ohio voters (a record and historic number of votes received for president in Ohio) who cast their ballot to re-elect Donald J. Trump that we as a legislature recognize the accomplishments of his administration, and that the Ohio House believes it is imperative we set aside a day to celebrate one of the greatest presidents in American history,” state Rep. Jon Cross (R-Ohio) and Reggie Stoltzfus (R-Ohio) wrote in a memorandum to all House members.

The duo praised Trump who accomplished many things that led America to unparalleled prosperity “against great odds.”

Dont be stupid. If you have to conduct and secure an election with paper ballots that would be hard enough. Fuck it tho, make it a cyber security risk too with all of what that entails. Is like the difference securing a puddle compared to an ocean.
