William Ramsey, The Satanic Panic Head Fake |463|

That is roughly what happened to me, although my number one issue is peace. Trump is for avoiding wars, while the Democrats are more than happy to send US personnel to their deaths abroad for no real reason. However please go to the Trump thread to discuss all that further. David

    Coronavirus Pandemic

My impression is that Biden is only just holding on to a semblance of awareness of what he is doing. Everything is done using a teleprompter. I'd guess that if he can't find an excuse to avoid the debates, he will use a teleprompter for them, and there will be a short presidential delay before...

William Ramsey, The Satanic Panic Head Fake |463|

I have long felt that the modern Left stands for quite different values than the Left of old - which was mainly about workers rights and wages, and above al peace. Likewise the "Alt-Right" seems pro-peace and stability, whereas the old Right was all in favour of war. These political terms have...

Well my understanding is that spirit communication is non-verbal (please correct me if that is not accurate). If the spirit spoke to you in non-verbal terms, I guess he didn't say 'Hell' to you, but showed you something that you feel corresponds to what you think of as Hell. The trouble with a...

I think it would really help to avoid the sweeping generalisations implied by expressions such as "Cultural Marxism", "Alt-Right", or "Nazi", and to discuss issues in a more brass tacks fashion - maybe I am just unsophisticated, and I picked up my approach from my parents, who came from...

I mean this came out of a discussion about the idea that spiritual reality has many graduations of coarseness. So if you accept your vision as real, would you take it that there are all those graduations, but underneath that there is Hell for the utterly incorrigibly evil individuals? Perhaps...

Not only that, but the traditional concept of Hell is something eternal - and what is the point in that? I agree. Might that simply be the lowest level - still with the possibility to improve? Anyway, what did you make of this? David

One comment I'd make - not in opposition to what you have written - is that money and happiness really do not equate. The movies you watch may not represent that well. For example, would you actually want the degree of luxury you describe? Would you want a household that needed to be run almost...

I am really sorry to hear that - all I can say is that his death was presumably very swift. I think Alex can probably put you in touch with a good medium living near you. From what I have read, it is better to wait a month or two before trying to get in touch. David

Mod+ 266. RICK ARCHER, CAN CONSCIOUSNESS CHANGE CULTURE?

And yet, Jim, so many of those endless US wars were supposedly fought over concern for others. OK it is easy to say that the politicians that started them were doing it out of self-interest, but they had to get some level of public support by claiming to be killing people for altruistic reasons...

Yes, but you have to start to postulate an awful lot of trickery out there - and for what purpose? I mean people have to appear as if they were dead relatives, and yet not be. There is often a narrative which sometimes ends in a simple choice - do you want to go back or not? The implication is...

The thing is, that science needs Occam's Razor to come to any conclusions at all. Otherwise it is always possible to produce arbitrarily elaborate theories to thwart any conclusion you don't agree with. How about a theory in which upon death our minds are copied to a simulator that can simulate...

How seriously do you take the concept of super ψ? To me, it is an absurdity. I mean some people have a point of view built around materialism, and then they try to argue against one non-materialist conclusion by concocting a theory which blows the limitations of materialism away - without...

I have left a query for Alex about this. When I encountered the problem I also emailed him. http://www.skeptiko-forum.com/threads/what-happened.4567/post-146273 I thought at first it was some sort of censorship, but maybe Alex had forgotten a bill! David

    What happened?

No, I sent him an email to let him know it was down, but I haven't had a reply. I thought we had been censored, and I say the discussion at Psience Quest but didn't contribute. I hope this was just a glitch of some sort. David

I found the Skeptiko site "suspended" earlier today - does anyone know what happened? David

    Coronavirus Pandemic

There may be substance to this! 1) One view I have heard expressed is that we are more susceptible to cancer because we need more cell divisions to read old age. Shorter lived creatures may well flourish because the competition has gone away. 2) There is also a much more...

I also enjoyed this podcast. Tricia sounds a very no-nonsense sort of woman, which I think makes her more persuasive. I also liked the fact that she is explicitly not religious! I am glad other people are trying experiments along the lines (roughly) of Julie Beischel's work. David
