    Where is everyone from (rebooted)

That was fascinating. Really. Thanks for taking the time to write it. I don't know how you survive those cold snaps, though. A couple of years ago, I moved from the sub-tropics to the mountains where it occasionally gets to -14°c at night. That first year, in winter, I nearly ******* died...

    Steven Snider, Parapolitical QAnon |529|

You mean I might learn something by ditching the economics books and reaching for the comics? You're probably right. Funnily enough, I've just recently been looking at a few for the first time in probably twenty years: The English translation of Alejandro Jodorowsky's Panic Fables, also Gary...

Yep. Not that I don't find the guy likable and worthy of much respect, of course. Yeah, but I get Michelle's point. It wasn't so long ago people said they got their news from Jon Stewart. Also, Rogan runs a general interest show (think Oprah), not news or current events like the other...

And he's a minister. Then again, listening to Mr. Hedges and co. for a decade or so left me feeling completely cut off from the magic of life. It was like his droning diction atrophied my pineal gland. That and reading too many economics books. It took me a long time to recover.

Miguel Conner, The Failed Roman/Jewish Psyop |532|

I get why Alex thinks the Roman psychological operation via Josephus idea is such an important issue. If it's true, a large part of western and world civilization is the direct result of clandestine social engineering. That's a big deal. All that said, I'm not convinced. People have posted the...

Ricky Varandas, Is Fake Science Evil? |530|

It could be his brain glitched and instead of remembering backwards like usual, it remembered forwards by mistake. Either way, he saw the future and it was murder. Maybe. It would make for good TV.

Wall St. Corporations Buying Real Estate. Gilded Age 2.0 (Again... why can't we post in Other?)

@Jack Ward As to your question in the header. All the forums have been closed bar Skeptiko Shows and Guidelines & Introductions. I think Alex didn't want to distract from discussion surrounding the shows or spend time moderating threads outside of his interests...

    Steven Snider, Parapolitical QAnon |529|

Yes, that's exactly what I was saying (if perhaps in a somewhat obscure fashion). But I think it works both ways. Mangling quantum physics to support a watered down version of mysticism is also disingenuous and at least as reductionist as anything Dawkins might stick in his pipe.

I think we're talking past each other. It's probably my fault. Have a good one.

Can't Post in Places to Discuss Things so.... JFK Revisited

When did I say you want communism? You must have me confused with someone else. Anyway, admittedly, I put my trust in that chart, but only because its poster and creator has proven to be reliable in the past. I did bring up Scandinavian countries with him at the time. Don't remember the answer...

This is very reasonable. But only if we draw a firm distinction between science and philosophy. A distinction ignored by many talking heads. Non-overlapping magisteria is a good way of avoiding bad science and mysticism both.

How does your point relate to my position? The Nordic model lets markets do a lot of work. Anyway, you should have a gander at that thread. Particularly Ethical Sceptic's contributions. He's a very interesting guy - non ideological, and super clued up. The few times I've lumpenly checked his...

Can't Post in Places to Discuss Things so.... JFK Revisited

What an interesting post. I admire your tenacity in swapping careers in middle age. It takes guts. Any advice for making a success of it? It's something I've been pondering for a few years now, but, minus the confidence/naivete of youth, find a rather terrifying prospect. I'm not American, so I...

Thanks. Though I should say that I used to consider myself a mild socialist (in the mold of Sweden, etc.) Now I'm a political agnostic. I've also intermittently dabbled in CTs in the past, enjoy Jack's posts, and quite like some of the CTers round here. So maybe you weren't that wrong! :)...

Um, I didn't want to do this this, but I feel the need to state that I have worked in management and directly with CEOs/executives from large (if not huge or international) corporations.... but it was all in media and entertainment, so, maybe it doesn't count. :)

Lol. I'm not a socialist, a communist, a CTer, a muslim, poor, a fanatic, an American hater, or an anti-capitalist. I also don't claim to have any solutions to the world's ills. You, my friend, are a hypocrite, for while I do appreciate your drawing on personal experience, and you certainly...

Can't Post in Places to Discuss Things so.... JFK Revisited

:):):):) I think the 50s boom was mainly a function of a specific set of historical circumstances. Namely, WW2 and the Marshall Plan. IE. A large expansion of the money supply during the war, creating a huge surge in capacity, said excess capacity being absorbed into the war effort, and then...

Ricky Varandas, Is Fake Science Evil? |530|

I'm not sure the distinction holds. Europe has a long history of ethnic pogroms and violence perpetrated by paramilitaries, militias, rioting mobs and the like, just as Africa has a history of massacres committed by regular forces during conflict (some of which you list). All that said, of...
