I noticed that on Coast to Coast this past weekend, George Knapp had Richard Dolen on to comment on some of the problems MUFON has been having with credibility issues lately. But they didn't mention this.

Richard Dolen's article regarding his concerns about his fellow MUFON conference panelists can be found here:

An excerpt from Dolan's comments about MUFON can be heard here:

What a sad mess. I always regarded MUFON as the most diligent, honest, and factual UFO organisation in the USA. Sad to see them degrade like this.

Vallee always warned of UFO cults infiltrating such organizations. George Knapp made a comment about the possibility that this was done as a way to discredit MUFON by disinformation groups.

    Here's more on the story:

Keep in mind that the Ramtha cult has tried to gain credibility in the past by creating a film in which people like Dean Radin were unwittingly used to promote the cult.

Read the comment section on Dean Radin's blog post.

To those among us that have been studying this phenomena for years... What elements would you say are consistent enough that they could be real in all of this? Because trying to make it trough the mine field of BS, fake whistleblowers and hoaxes has prevented me from going much further.

That's the real issue, isn't it? Jacques Vallee has tried to get something as basic as a comprehensive database of information on UFO sightings to be established, and that hasn't happened yet. Until the basics have been taken care of, it's hard to know what's real. Real science can be done to investigate this phenomenon, but I'm not sure that groups like MUFON are helping in that respect.

In Jacques Vallee's book Confrontations, there is a part in the introduction where he talks about the problem of cults in those interested in UFOs.

I guess the big question is "Can we confront the unknown rationally?", or will we always get sidetracked by those who don't want us to think clearly about these topics... the cults, the people with books to sell, and individuals or groups with an interest in discrediting the scientific study of anomalies.

I don't think that any organization that allows direct access into its inner circle trough money can survive for long as a credible one. I recall that we had a discussion about some NDE cult doing the same last year... Which may actually be a hint to the shortage of cash that anything considered 'fringe' has.

PS- I would like to learn more about the 'Battle of L.A.'.

An interesting side note to the MUFON story is what's been going on with one the featured speakers from the 2017 MUFON conference, Corey Goode.
