TALKING EVIL WITH ALEX TSAKIRIS -- GORDON WHITE -- RUNE SOUP

You got it. I skipped some of the chapters but the book was brilliant IMO. :)

sure. I totally accept what you're saying. then again, we are all playing this consensus reality game... and whether we like to admit it or not we're all judging each other as to how well we're playing it :)
Alex, would you be willing to tell us about your own spirituality? It seems you perceive every religion to be a cult, so do you see yourself as spiritual but not religious? (i.e., in the category known as "none" / for no affiliation, lol ) ?

I like this pic b/c I like the waves in the ocean metaphor which depicts our separateness as waves but our identical soul essence as the underlying ocean. The pic shows how two waves can connect through love even while remaining separate.. I differ from the traditional view that our ultimate goal is to lose our separateness and merge back into the ocean.

No comments pls, just explaining part of my own sacred worldview. I see folks' sacred outlooks as radically different from their political views.

I know the following is long, but its another wonderful personal story that I just had to share here and fits right in with what we discuss.

I can't remember which discussion Alex was in where Alex brought up Strieber's story about being in a cage as a young boy etc. but Alex mentioned he had heard this in a Greg Carlwood HigherSideChats discussion between Greg and Whitley Strieber (2018). I place the post in this thread as I think it was this discussion with Gordon White where this was covered.

So... last week, as I strive to do each day when I take my "power walk" (not so powerfully), I pick one of these MP3s to listen to (yesterday was Alex's most recent release - with Rick DeLano). This time it was the HigherSideChats discussion with Whitley Strieber.

So... when I listened to the 2018 discussion, Strieber told the story where he and his wife, Ann, had made the agreement that whoever might pass on first would, through a friend, let the other know they are fine and 'alive and well' so to speak on the other side. Strieber then tells about his two key data points which... here's the exact story excerpts from this link -

"We worked out a plan of afterlife communication. The first of us to die would contact friends who had no idea of our plan, and only then contact the loved one. Not two hours after Anne died, I got the first call from such a friend, Belle Fuller, who said to me, "Whitley, the strangest thing just happened. I heard Anne telling me to call you. Is she all right?" (She knew that Anne was ill.) I said to her, "Belle, Anne died an hour and a half ago." This kept happening, and finally I realized that Anne was carrying out our plan."

Strieber then tells Greg Carlwood of another specific incident where the friend calls Strieber and tells Strieber that he had just "gotten a message from Ann to call him (Strieber).

When I got home from my walk, I shared this precise story with my wife, Cristina, who has the strongest desire that when she passes on, she experiences eternal peace and doesn't want to come back to any world such as this regardless of whether I'm there or, as is my own desire, hoping she would want to meet me again, etc. I shared this story with her mentioning that maybe her soul may have other plans for her! So... keep an open mind. Note, I also promised her that if she ever told me to "buzz off" in any future lifetime, I would honor her request (and I would... that is an unbreakable "self rule" - to honor the wishes of the other).

Now for the next pre-story but relevant information. My wife, Cristina, immigrated to the US in 2017. We have been married since 2002. I had lived out of the country up until 2013 and it was in the fall of 2013 we decided to do the "immigration process" and it took 3.5 years! She arrived on my father's birthday 2017 (my father had passed on, suicide in 1979). My relationship with my mother had never been good and for background (if interested) - read here.

My greatest wish was that my mother (who was almost 80 when Cristina arrived) would be able to meet Cristina. I was convinced my mother would see/feel Cristina's energy and perhaps consider her son was not such a "bad guy" after all, as there would be no way a "bad guy" could have attracted the love and marriage of such a wonderful, peaceful, talented (an artist like my Mom!), mature woman such as Cristina. Sadly, my mother, who had been suffering from cardio-pulmonary disease had taken a turn for the worse in December and by the time Cristina arrived in January, my Mom wasn't open to visitors. She passed on February 18th, 2017.

The last part to know is that almost year ago I had taken on the project of creating a website so that Cristina would have a web presence to present her art. I found a designer and recently we completed the project and the site went live a feww weeks ago. My next step was to create "business cards" for Cristina that would have her website address and contact info, etc... but I wanted to make sure these cards were different, high quality, etc... and so last week I went to search online for a local business that could assist in producing such. I had searched before and had my notes available yet I felt compelled to search again. Pretty far down the Google first page, I came across a company called 'alphagraphics' and instantly recognized it as the company my Mom used in the 1980s when she was still living here in Dallas. My Mom always worked with the best folks who always did work with integrity and so it felt like a sign and I decided I would reach out to them when they were open. I sent myself an e-mail with their link information as this is how I remind myself of tasks. This morning happened to coincide with a.) their open hours and b.) my energy and enthusiasm to jump on it.

So, with that background established - here's what happened.

I started to dial their number. I got six digits of the ten needed when I heard behind me a loud crash. Behind my desk is a backdrop I recently acquired which I use for Zoom and Skype video calls so I had to get up and look behind the back drop to see what happened. There, wedged between my shredder and the wall was a piece of art my mother had done which was part of a set of two others which Cristina had hung on the wall behind my desk, which, had been obscured from view when I set up the backdrop. It had somehow come crashing down and this was the source of the loud crashing noise. Fortunately, the glass and frame were fine and no damage to the painting occurred... and once I saw that, it suddenly hit me.

The timing could not have been any more uncanny - literally in the middle of dialing the number to alphagraphics, one of three "boot" drawings had come crashing down. The significance of these boot paintings has its own history too. I had been given an original set done by my Mom back in the mid-nineties. My divorce from my first wife, a harrowing episode of my life no different than depicted in the movie, "The War of the Roses" with the sole exception we didn't literally kill each other. But my ex had destroyed the boot drawings along with just about every other irreplaceable possession that she know held huge meaning for me. My mother wasn't happy at all when she learned they were "gone" and regardless of the fact my ex had done the deed, she blamed me (as she had blamed me for many, many things). So just like the story I shared regarding my son and his car title (for those who might have read it), the significance of this specific piece of my mother's art transcends in meaning (to me) all other pieces of her art she ever did. That my sister gave me her set (less one as my original set had 4 and she only had 3), set the stage for this incredible "call" from my Mom, as this is how I have chosen to interpret the incident.

Just like Whitley Strieber got phone calls from friends telling him Ann had told the friend to call Whitley. Considering I had just last week listened to Whitley sharing the story with Greg Carlwood (done two years ago). That I felt compelled to share this story with my wife just after hearing it (again, last week). That I discovered the same graphics company my Mom had always used (last week) yet only felt compelled to finally call them this morning. And in the midst of dialing their number, one of her boot drawings comes crashing to the floor (though undamaged! thankfully). That it was Cristina who had hung the painting (with a dubious method) but with heartfelt intentions (as I may never have hung them). And then at just the right moment... during a stretch of time that could not have spanned more then 3 or 4 seconds (to dial a number - to "make a call"). BOOM!

I hope I was able to convey the experience properly. It is powerfully meaningful to me. I know she knows I love her dearly.

Here's relevant artifacts -

@Alex - re Phil Harland, history of Satan, and

the battle archetype (these guys vs. those guys) [as] the grandparent of the good/evil narrative.

(edit: also tagging @Chester Hunter, who was part of earlier discussion)

Question: i'm listening to your intro to the Pieces of Eight interview with Gordon White, which includes the excerpt of the conversation between Miguel Connor and Richard Smoley. You interpret Smoley as saying that Satan was 'created' when the Jews decided to "break off all Yahway's bad characteristics" and "pack them into this other character" who becomes "God's alter ego." Do you still believe this interpretation? I'm asking because it kind of jumps over Harland's work, which suggests that there was a progression from combat (these gods vs. those gods) to order vs. chaos (neither of which is evil, basically yin/yang) to light vs. dark (Zoroastrianism) to good vs. evil (also Zoroastrianism) and then God vs. Satan.

(link to Harland's History of Satan podcast archive - scroll down to bottom, first one that addresses Satan is #7.6 on the Book of Enoch)

I'm going to go back and listen to more of Harland's stuff before listening to the rest of your Gordon White interviews, but to me this seems like an important piece of the historical progression. I'll follow up if anything extra interesting comes up. :)

related question: does Gordon White ever say why he practices magic? (similar to the question that you've indicated you would ask Steven Skinner)

---

edit/addendum: I'm starting to listen, and very interestingly imho, Zoarastrianism also seems to mark the introduction of the idea that humans must choose between one side or the other (good=light=the god ahura mazda or evil=dark=aka angra mainyu).

quick tangent to give this more context- from here:
According to Zarathustra, Ahura Mazdā created the universe and the cosmic order that he maintains. He created the twin spirits Spenta Mainyu and Angra Mainyu (Ahriman)—the former beneficent, choosing truth, light, and life; and the latter destructive, choosing deceit, darkness, and death. The struggle of the spirits against each other makes up the history of the world and is reflected in the choice between good and evil that humanity constantly faces.

So it seems that at some point, God (Ahura Mazda) became conflated with Spenta Mainyu (goodness, purity, life).

Also very interesting: darkness in Zoroastrianism appears to be connected to Hades (i.e. the underworld, and thus death) which is opposed to light (a version of heaven), which is the realm of Ahura Mazda. The "where will you go when you die, heaven or hell?" question is also part of the tradition.

And check out Zoaraster's conversion story - crazy interesting when considered in light of Diana Pasulka's ideas about Teresa of Avila:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/zoroastrian/beliefs/god.shtml
At the age of thirty, Zoroaster had a divine vision whilst bathing in a river during a pagan purification rite. On the bank of the river he saw a 'Shining Being' made of light who revealed himself as Vohu Manah ('Good Mind').

Vohu Manah led Zoroaster to the presence of Ahura Mazda (God) and five other radiant beings, which are called the Amesha Spentas (Holy Immortals). This was the first of a number of visions in which Zoroaster saw Ahura Mazda and his Amesha Spentas; during each vision he asked many questions. The answers given to Zoroaster are the foundations of Zoroastrian religion.

Throw in some kentucky goblins and/or underground alien colonies and all this could be a really interesting story....but let's not get ahead of ourselves, lol :D

Some preliminary thoughts on evil after having listened to the Rune Soup episode:

My wife and I are currently watching a Netflix documentary called “Athlete A” which details the sexual assaults of numerous US Olympians at the hands of a Dr. Larry Nassar and other individuals associated with the Olympics. At one point in the documentary, some of the gymnasts and others involved in the documentary detail how many of these gymnasts were essentially groomed for sexual assault by their training at the hands of merciless and fanatical coaches who abused them emotionally through verbal castigation and chronic disregard of their innate value as human beings.

I should note, there doesn’t appear to be any “Satanic Ritual Abuse” element to these assaults.

When the documentary mentions the way in which these gymnasts became habituated to mistreatment—causing them to be disinclined to report their sexual abuse, initially—a couple things clicked together for me.

As I take a step back and reflect on this, there are many aspects to our experience as human beings where we are “groomed,” so to speak, to habituate to things that, when first experienced, throw up red flags.

I’ll throw out a bunch that occur to me, personally. Let me note at the outset, none of these experiences come anywhere close to the sexual trauma the gymnasts suffer. I do not intend to equate these experiences with those of the gymnasts in the documentary. I wish only to note that Evil exists on a spectrum and that, in accord with the principle noted above, the “lesser” end of the spectrum leads to habituation to greater evils at the more severe end.

Some “garden variety” forms of Evil generally accepted as part of “the facts of life”:

* Experiencing various discomforts/needs/injuries as a child and crying, only to be told that the experience “wasn’t that bad” and to “be a big boy or girl” and “toughen up”

* Repeatedly being separated from parents and left with strangers so parents can go to work/pursue recreation

* Being sent to preschool and then grade school and subjected to various forms of evaluation which enforce ideas of personal worth being dependent upon skill, performance, internalization of societal norms, productivity

* Being restricted from engaging in self-soothing activities as a child except as allowed during designated times and in recognized forms (recess, sports, games, drawing, socializing, eating only at lunchtime, etc.)

* Having no access to individuals who you share familial/intimate emotional bond with during school hours

* The educational process itself, being a tool for the purpose of creating workers for a workforce—underscoring that the ultimate value of a human being is in the performance of desired behaviors that produce something of value for corporations/employers who will reap the greater (many times, much greater) degree of benefit from that “relationship”

* The prevailing economic circumstances in which the bulk of humanity trades their time—their “life-time”--in return for generally unsatisfactory (and continuously declining) standards of financial compensation through wages, salaries, health insurance and other benefits

* Having no right to healthcare by right of birth, further underscoring that one’s worth and even continuance of existence is contingent upon productivity and capacity to perform tasks that economically benefit others

* Having no means to pursue a higher quality of life aside from within the economic machine which, itself, perpetuates the evils noted above—thus making one an accomplice in evil simply through compulsory participation (I could write about this one for a long time, and it has many extensions—such as taxes used to support endless wars of very dubious moral integrity: “Drone strikes on children”)

* Having been indoctrinated and initiated through the traumas above, one unwittingly assists in indoctrinating and traumatizing others—generally one’s own children, family members, and friends

* Religious and civic institutions promote values that support the status quo that cement these evils into our regular experience—even urging us to embrace this state of things as somehow appropriate for us

* What began as the experience of chronic, routine distress experienced as a child, ends as something one feels “proud” about—if one has become well adapted to the above arrangement. Those who are not well adapted generally become members of an unseen “untouchables” caste within society—victims that are blamed for their own victimization and resented by society

* Much of the above directly contributes to the illness, death and decay of the Earth and its inhabitants

This is a work in progress and I’d like to expand upon it in time. Others are welcome to comment and add insights of their own. I have often had thoughts about these evils in our lives and I think they deserve more attention as they are so ubiquitous and common. These evils, in accord with the “Athlete A” principle of habituation noted above, set us up for ever greater violation of our integrity and perhaps coarsen some of us to the point where we engage in heinous and overt forms of abuse toward others

***An aside***

Perhaps because of a gnostic impulse I’ve had throughout much of my life, I’ve often been attracted to the idea of magic on account of its reputation for enabling individuals to acquire power to break free of the “archonic” forces I laid out above. Fundamentalist religion encourages slavish obedience and acceptance of the above archonic influences (e.g., Ephesians 6:5-8: “Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people, because you know that the Lord will reward each one for whatever good they do, whether they are slave or free.”) Or, in contemporary language: “Suck it up. You’ll get your pie in the sky when you die.”

I remain rather ambivalent about practicing magic, as I don’t understand it (who does?) but there is something about it I much prefer to simply taking it in the ass from the man for the entirety of my life. If there is a force that would punish someone for attempting to free oneself of the burdens above, then I would be inclined to label that force Evil with a BIG E. There is something compelling about refusing to bend one’s knee to the archonic forces, standing up, arming oneself with mysterious powers, and making a sincere effort to shake off one’s enslavement.

That’s it for now.

A short addendum to my preliminary thoughts on evil, listed above:

Though I have come to identify myself as being most closely aligned with the leftist democratic socialist perspective espoused by Bernie Sanders in recent years, I once considered myself a Conservative. During that time I routinely read the Drudge Report and haven’t given up the tendency—I still think it’s a great one-stop shop for news if I don’t have time for perusing other sources. One could do a lot worse!

Point being... Today, Drudge posted this (which is by no means representative of most of the stuff he posts): https://www.shtfplan.com/headline-news/is-america-heading-for-civil-war-of-course-it-is_07072020

From that “article”:
In last week’s article, I discussed the issue of American “balkanization” and the rapid migration of conservatives and moderates from large population centers and states that are becoming militant in their progressive ideology. In my home state of Montana, there has been a surge of people trying to escape the chaos and oppression of leftist states.

Some are here because of the pandemic and the harsh restrictions they had to endure during the first lockdowns. Others are here because they can’t stand the hostility of identity politics, cancel culture, and race riots. Either way, they are fleeing places with decidedly leftist influences.

One thing about evil, that I think must be kept in mind, is that it bears false witness. It also presents itself as sweetness and light, when it is decidedly not so. In the case above, it presents disempowered and disenfranchised people as lording power over others and threatening to preside over them as dictators because of demands for grievances to be addressed. But, as the old saying implies, you can fool at least some of the people some of the time.

Here’s a thoughtful retort to the type of smearing going in above: https://www.currentaffairs.org/2020/07/the-right-wing-myth-of-the-left-wing-mob/

It is frustrating when people who are not right-wing lunatics echo the language used by Donald Trump about the left. Donald Trump has risen to power by spinning tales about an America that doesn’t exist, one plagued by marauding hordes of immigrants, vandals, and Stalinists. He promises the public that he will restore a better America, one that also never existed. It is our job to expose these fictions for what they are, and provide a better vision of what could be. Having liberals and leftists endorse the right-wing myth about Totalitarian Leftist Mobs feeds into Trump’s culture war reelection strategy. We should refuse to concede, then, that the grotesque caricature of social justice movements is true. We should demand that the full facts of these “canceling” incidents, rather than vague innuendos and selective details, be put on the table and evaluated fairly. And we need to point to the real problems in this country, which do not come from angry anti-racists on Twitter—who mostly just tweet—but from a government that is letting its people die, and a class of oligarchs that couldn’t care how much ordinary people suffer so long as the stock market keeps going up.

Evil is a slippery rascal. As Jesus pointed out, those most benighted by it can hem and haw for a lifetime over the splinter in their neighbor’s eye without once noticing the log in their own.

What I have noticed is that those who claim themselves to be aligned with today's "progressivism/leftism" (meaning, no resemblance to classical liberalism - defenders of civil liberties) almost, with rare exception, cannot refrain from dragging a non-political conversation into the political muck. This is being done on every social media type and venue.

Since a significant portion of the "silence culture" crowd with its various branches such as "cancel culture" are of the marxist ideology which goes hand in hand with "there is no reality beyond this meaningless materiality" type world view (which is equally imposed upon all that suffer under such domination)...

You get thread trashings like some of the recent posts. Don't bite is my advice and... use the ignore feature provided by the software. All they are striving to do is derail and/or destroy higher conversation.

I can understand why people dislike Cancel Culture and violent riots. I consider myself a Classical Liberal. I want freedom of speech and liberty, not Marxist authoritarianism.

There's the false witness: Marxist authoritarianism. Who wants Marxist authoritarianism? I haven't met anyone who wants it. I supported Sanders because I'm a younger person who hasn't gotten the same economic shake that my parents and grandparents got. They had great benefits and pensions and affordable college, etc., a safety net that allowed them to pursue their dreams/goals. If we could have a return to the policies that made that possible for earlier generations, I think that would be a wonderful thing. Calling it "Marxist authoritarianism" is a way of making sure that the 1% engaging in their wealth extraction get to continue doing so unimpeded. When you buy into the idea that anyone who wants economic justice is a Marxist looking to steal away civil liberties, you let people like the Koch brothers an Jeff Bezos remake this world in their own image and you assist them in crippling regular folks who are just trying to make a decent life for themselves.

Chester (Sam?) Here's another thing about evil. Evil is generally mundane. It's effects are so mundane and ubiquitous that we grow habituated to them, as I noted above. People not having access to affordable health care (like many of our grandparents and great-grandparents did) is evil. Plain and simple. We achieved it in an earlier stage of our country's development and then we lost it. Why did we lose it? Because economic interests decided to make money off of it. Part of why I brought up the political element is because you have to if you're going to have a sincere conversation about evil. Evil is experienced routinely, regularly, as part of our mundane experience of life! Otherwise, we end up waiting for Freddy Kruger or Jason or Michael Myers or Satan to show themselves in order to call a thing Evil. There's a LOT of evil in this world. If we are only willing to point the finger at sexual miscreants wearing weird robes and chanting weird words as evil, then EVIL GETS A PASS. Evil is ALSO people going bankrupt and losing what little they've managed to acquire throughout a lifetime because they got sick. Evil is also multi-billionaires having the means to influence policies so that the world that would benefit them the most is the world that the rest of us get to live in.

That's my point. Not all democrats are Stalinists and Marxists. Not all republicans are KKK and Nazis. If I said either of the above, that would be more false witness. I posted the Drudge article above because the guy writing the article is clearly trapped in a nightmare world in his head where he thinks "the leftists" are coming to pick a war with him and "the good people" and he and everyone on his "team" better get prepared to fight a war. Well, if we begin walking around like we're on the brink of war and start dehumanizing everyone around us in the meantime, it's going to make EVIL much more likely because if we see people not as people but as hosts for parasitical worldviews that need to be eradicated, then evil is going to be done - war will break out and then real Evil will happen. It won't come in funky robes worn by pedophiles, it will come as our neighbors who aren't able to see us as human beings just trying to get by in life.

Chester, I'm quite capable of seeing the "higher" stuff. But we have to see the "lower" stuff too - because Evil is mostly happening at that level.

Having no means to pursue a higher quality of life aside from within the economic machine which, itself, perpetuates the evils noted above—thus making one an accomplice in evil simply through compulsory participation (I could write about this one for a long time, and it has many extensions—such as taxes used to support endless wars of very dubious moral integrity: “Drone strikes on children”)
While I am sympathetic to these types of worker/societal issues, don't we have to be fair and point out how much the quality of life has actually advanced in recent centuries through this type of shared sacrifice?

While folks might niggle at the edges of this notion, Western society spends more time now than ever in leisure activities, has more access to literature/art/music (digital age has broken this wide open), etc.

So, is this "good" is the result of "evil" or are we risking painting with too broad a brush?

There's the false witness: Marxist authoritarianism. Who wants Marxist authoritarianism? I haven't met anyone who wants it.

And yet people are supporting it under the guise of cancel culture.

You are very fortunate to have been born in a country that still has free speech and liberty. Those rights are quickly being eroded by the far left.

Look at what happens to Liberals who try to take a stand on behalf of free speech. They are being cancelled

https://nypost.com/2020/07/08/the-left-goes-nuts-over-liberals-who-dare-to-defend-free-speech/

Instead of teaching young people to be critical thinkers and deal with difficult ideas, the universities are showing them how to bully people into silence. Look at what happens to professors who refuse to be silenced.

I don't think young people understand the consequences of Marxism. Nothing is free. If you don't earn your way, you are stealing the future from your children.

The primary intention is targeted at each and every individual with the goal being to eliminate their contact with the aspect of their being that transcends the five sense world. In other words, the goal is to de-link each individual's connection to their soul.

Anyone who posts anything that is in support of all this nonsense is demonstrating they have no value in connection with their own soul and wish to make sure no one else does either.

It is black and white obvious. It is spiritual warfare plain and simple.

K9!... I understand fighting "the good fight."

I found that it simply seems to feed the monster(s), but that is just my opinion and, we all have free choice at all levels of our being, even at this level up to the point they put us all in cages or kill us (one by one). It sadly appears this is coming.

OK, so lets not even have a conversation with one another because we've already decided that anyone with different ideas than our own is just evil and lets accuse them of wanting to kill us all, hence justifying our own refusal to have a conversation with them.

Come on out of that nightmare, Chester. It's just a guy on a forum thinking out loud.

I don't see it as fighting the good fight. For me it's just speaking up and telling the truth. There is a real deficit of courage in the world right now, and I can't be a part of that.

One thing that helps keep me brave is remembering what Solzhenitsyn illustrated so well in The Gulag Archipelago; it's the true believers who went to the forced labor camps first, not the people who resisted Marxism. The people who fought back were too much trouble and had a better chance of getting away from the police. The true believers went quietly, expecting that their arrest was just a clerical error that would be fixed when the police figured out that they were good Communists. But the good Communists were the first to die.

That's a complete mischaracterization of what Chester wrote.

No, it's not. Earlier he said to block me and lumped me in with some other conversation. He told you you were "fighting the good fight" and insinuated that he had enough of me. He brought up people killing each other and you bring up Gulags. All I said is that economic disparities are evil but suddenly it's communists and Marxists and gulags.

Predictable - and why I don't need to read it. What else can they do? Its a primary tactic... mischaracterization, misrepresentation, twisting, spinning... they can't make a case with honesty or the truth.

That's what they do - mischaracterization (among many other tactics) and I am glad I ignore them. Thanks for standing up for me.

And the ultimate showdown is November 3, 2020. If the country allows itself to be placed in the hands of these forces, kiss the USA as you know it, goodbye forever.
