9/11 Discussion Thread

On 911 literally hundreds of families of victims in the towers created "Missing" fliers with pictures of the loved ones, went into downtown Manhattan and hung them . . . Some requiring ladders (which maybe they brought with them) to be hung. They included hair color, height, and a contact phone number. Simon Shack questions whether this is really something one does when a building collapses and you knew someone (likely) in it.

MISSING IN FICTION

"So Real"

On the evening of 9/11 all around “Ground Zero”, candle vigils were being held for the “thousands of casualties” while clusters of fliers appeared all over the city walls: xeroxed portraits of men and women with big “MISSING” headings. A typical flier would read: “MISSING: My husband John Brown, height (so and so) hair (so and so) eyes (so and so) and a contact number. Lower Manhattan was literally blanketed with those Xerox copies - an allegedly "spontaneous effort by family members to trace their lost loved ones". The world was left silently watching, sharing the human grief. This was no time to ponder over the possible purpose of those flimsy fliers pleading for help to recover lost loved ones - much as one might do for errant cats and dogs.

MISSING_FLIER03.jpg
"Everybody Tells A Story"

Naturally, those intensely emotional hours allowed no space for rational - and much less - cynical thought. To most people, at the time, these fliers covering the city walls seemed like the most natural thing in the world. But this was civilized New York City - not some barren beachfront washed away by a tsunami. What sort of results were these fliers supposed to achieve? Were they the carriers of some desperate, irrational hope? Wait - perhaps a widow's expectation was to receive a call from some sharp-eyed NYC shopkeeper...“Hello ma’am, an errant gentleman that looks like your missing husband just walked into my grocery-store in a daze. He’s covered in dust and looks hungry. Come over and pick him up!“

So what was the deal with those fliers? What sort of collective phenomena would have caused hundreds of families to reach for downtown Manhattan, on the evening of the tragedy, to plaster the city with “MISSING” fliers? If we are to have a rational discourse about this matter, we must first tackle one basic, elementary question: is this what people usually do when buildings collapse ? or even in the aftermath of earthquakes or other calamities? No. It is something you might (possibly) do when a stray kid is feared abducted, kidnapped or on the run. Even in such circumstances, families will prefer to rely on the authorities - not on fliers. Such neighborhood pamphlets are usually reserved for pets gone astray.

This issue merits serious consideration and needs to be resolved once and for all: we cannot keep on pretending that it was all part of the natural order of things. Let’s face it, the whole idea of these “MISSING” fliers is preposterous in the extreme. It was one thing to swallow the “spontaneous” nature of this bizarre, collective behavior in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. It is another to accept it as such today. So do we have any lead to follow as to finding out who might have been behind this manifestly staged operation?

"A New Comedy Series"

It would seem so. And - lo and behold! - it leads us straight to the website of Steven Rosenbaum - the boss of Camera Planet. It so happens that his friend and fellow 'curator' Louis Nevaer, apparently, saved 5200 of those fliers from destruction just in time before the rains set in a few days later. But before we get to know Dr. Nevaer, let me first remind you about Rosenbaum and his vast 9/11 video collection he purportedly acquired...by putting up fliers all around NYC...

STEVEN ROSENBAUM - of 'Camera Planet'

As the story goes, in the aftermath of 9/11, Rosenbaum put up posters and fliers in NYC and placed an ad in The Village Voice “urgently requesting images that captured the attack, its aftermath and the mood of the city”. That effort seems to have worked out nicely. His 1,700 video clips of 9/11 constitute, he says, “the largest archive of my now dormant television production company, CameraPlanet”. His website tells us that seventy-six people contributed to these “500 hours of videos”, which are owned by Mr. Rosenbaum and his wife, Pamela Yoder. Mr. Rosenbaum happily boasts that two appraisers have valued his archive in excess of $1 million. In fact, he explains, he is working out an agreement with Bank of America, the company's primary lender. He wants to structure a deal with a donor or a buyer that would keep the collection from being sold piecemeal, repay his company's debt of more than $500,000 and make the videos available to researchers, filmmakers and the public.

But Mr. Rosenbaum hastens to point out: "It's not about money. This collection is about five years of my life. We don't have the resources to make it available to researchers and other documentarians, and we are very selective in giving approval to use our video." Too bad. Mr. Rosenbaum apparently cares about documentarians and researchers; he just doesn’t have the “resources” to lend them his videos. What a crying shame. Inexplicably, his website mentions nothing about the history of the videos themselves. Not a single author of the 1,700 clips is cited anywhere. It appears that “the Best Documented Catastrophe in History” has a little problem; no one has a clue about WHO EXACTLY documented the unique, defining piece of history which Mr. Rosenbaum keeps in his custody.

We also learn from Mr. Rosenbaum’s website that his company, BNN TV, employs over 80 people and occupies five floors of a Fifth Avenue building in Manhattan. The proud slogan of his company is “BNN TV Changes the Way Stories Are Told”. His clients include CNN, CBS News, MSNBC, HBO and Court TV. His state-of-the-art video studio was among the first to adopt the advanced “Avid Media Composer nonlinear editing system”. Here’s an extract of Mr. Rosenbaum’s biography:

“Steve Rosenbaum is passionate about telling authentic visual stories. Raised in a family of storytellers (his mother was a writer; his uncle a White House correspondent), Rosenbaum was a filmmaker and magician before he began his career as an intern in an edit room at CBS News over 20 years ago. It was in this rarefied news environment that Rosenbaum discovered an unexpected gap between visual storytellers and the tools needed to produce a broadcast news story.”

LOUIS_NEVAER.png
LOUIS NEVAER

But let's return to the "MISSING" fliers stuck all over Manhattan. Rosenbaum's Camera Planet website also mentions this different and curious 9/11 collection. Its curator, Dr. Nevaer, apparently collected 5,200 of those “MISSING” fliers which covered the walls of New York City in the aftermath of the disaster. He then neatly restored them, framed them and took them on tour ? an 18-month travelling exhibition around the world. Here is Dr. Nevaer’s story, as narrated on the Camera Planet website:

“Dr.Louis Nevaer is also seeking a home for his collection. He is curator of an archive that contains 5,200 missing-persons fliers and related artifacts from the days after the attack in Lower Manhattan. An exhibition derived from it, "Missing: Last Seen at the World Trade Center," travelled for 18 months to 17 American cities, to Mexico City and Milan."These fliers were going to be discarded as litter, and if we didn't save them, then they'd be lost," Dr. Nevaer said. The flier collection has been catalogued and stored in climate-controlled warehouses in New York and Miami, "and we're negotiating with several museums," he said."We won't permit it to go to any institution that charges admission," Dr. Nevaer said. That rules out the 9/11 National Memorial & Museum planned for ground zero.”

What Dr. Nevaer fails to tell us is that his “flier-tour” was prematurely cancelled, after being repeatedly slashed by critics for its tackiness and bad taste. Dr. Nevaer is apparently an expert on Hispanic immigration in the US - and is rumored to have been a CIA informer. It would seem like an odd, sentimental hobby for such a character to arrange exhibits of “climate-controlled” xerox copies... On the website listing the venues of Dr. Nevaer’s bizarre, travelling exhibition. we may read:

The Fliers in New York For New Yorkers the fliers were a constant and powerful reminder of their lost neighbors. Although only 500-700 families could get to New York to create fliers, approximately 90,000 were hung. These fliers covered walls, lampposts, subway stops and phone booths all over the city. It was nearly impossible to go about life without encountering them.”

We can only marvel over Dr. Nevaer’s acuteness. Did he come to that “90,000” figure by estimating the city areas covered by the fliers? Did he ask each of the 700 families how many they had xeroxed? Did he stroll around Manhattan, counting them one by one? Or could he possibly have had any role in the gigantic "MISSING" fliers propaganda operation? In any case, the man who plausibly created the hypnotic 9/11 "amateur videos" and the man who plausibly directed the "MISSING" flier mass-hypnosis are no strangers to each other.

http://bigeye.com/images/911hoaxposters.jpg

9/11 was but a foul skullduggery played out by a gang of quack magicians with friends in - very - high places. The ploy was as vile as can be: to distort reality using the full clout of the mass media. It aimed to convey the perception of loss: the loss of planes, the loss of lives, the loss of freedoms. On LIVE TV, animated imagery replaced the real-life events of the morning; a handful of frames simulating a digital airplane exploding in a digital tower sufficed to convey 'the loss of planes'. The 'loss of lives' was stage-managed in the streets for public consumption - and the stage was Manhattan itself. Behind a smokey stage curtain, a redundant building complex was bombed to oblivion - and went missing in action. People and planes went missing on fliers: missing in fiction.

The Architects and Engineers for the 9/11 Truth (A&E9/11T) are making the second attempt to persuade the members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) to sign a resolution declaring the mainstream assessment of the WTC Building 7 collapse scientifically and technically invalid. The first attempt was largely a failure: only 4% of AIA members dared to support the alternative explanation of 9/11 events, so it didn't pass voting procedure. A&E9/11T promise to do their best to win as many votes as possible.

I suppose, if they will indeed do their utmost, they will have 8% of votes. Maybe even 12%. I have no hope that resolution will be accepted by the majority in the AIA: many people there may be secretly sympathetic with the A&E9/11T, but will not let their professional reputations and prospects to be tainted by the "conspiracy theorist" label...

Hang on... So there were Hijackers... And highjackings?

Explain to us again what you believe and why. That is, how, exactly, do you know there were hijackers? . . . since it seems so obvious to you.

I hope this question doesn't make you "uneasy" :)

There are plenty of converging lines of evidence for the hijackings.... Hurmanetar has linked to more above. The irony of you asking me to explain exactly what I believe happened on that day will not be lost on anyone who has followed this thread.

One of the stupidest forum posts I've ever read, bar none. The arguments from incredulity are so thick and sticky it's hard to wade through them without a shovel...does the author really think he has to understand the motivations of people in order for them to be legitimate? Has the author ever met people? Has the author ever thought about the behavior of people who are in shock and grieving? What an absolute waste of time that read was. What the hell has happened to skeptiko?

"WASHINGTON — Saudi Arabia has told the Obama administration and members of Congress that it will sell off hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of American assets held by the kingdom if Congress passes a bill that would allow the Saudi government to be held responsible in American courts for any role in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

The Obama administration has lobbied Congress to block the bill’s passage, according to administration officials and congressional aides from both parties, and the Saudi threats have been the subject of intense discussions in recent weeks between lawmakers and officials from the State Department and the Pentagon. The officials have warned senators of diplomatic and economic fallout from the legislation."

It's time to admit 9/11 Truthers were right

http://www.infowars.com/its-time-to-admit-the-911-truthers-were-right/

http://nypost.com/2016/04/17/how-us-covered-up-saudi-role-in-911/

In its report on the still-censored “28 pages” implicating the Saudi government in 9/11, “60 Minutes” last weekend said the Saudi role in the attacks has been “soft-pedaled” to protect America’s delicate alliance with the oil-rich kingdom.

That’s quite an understatement.

Actually, the kingdom’s involvement was deliberately covered up at the highest levels of our government. And the coverup goes beyond locking up 28 pages of the Saudi report in a vault in the US Capitol basement. Investigations were throttled. Co-conspirators were let off the hook.

Case agents I’ve interviewed at the Joint Terrorism Task Forces in Washington and San Diego, the forward operating base for some of the Saudi hijackers, as well as detectives at the Fairfax County (Va.) Police Department who also investigated several 9/11 leads, say virtually every road led back to the Saudi Embassy in Washington, as well as the Saudi Consulate in Los Angeles.

Yet time and time again, they were called off from pursuing leads. A common excuse was “diplomatic immunity.”

Those sources say the pages missing from the 9/11 congressional inquiry report — which comprise the entire final chapter dealing with “foreign support for the September 11 hijackers” — details “incontrovertible evidence” gathered from both CIA and FBI case files of official Saudi assistance for at least two of the Saudi hijackers who settled in San Diego.

Some information has leaked from the redacted section, including a flurry of pre-9/11 phone calls between one of the hijackers’ Saudi handlers in San Diego and the Saudi Embassy, and the transfer of some $130,000 from then-Saudi Ambassador Prince Bandar’s family checking account to yet another of the hijackers’ Saudi handlers in San Diego.

An investigator who worked with the JTTF in Washington complained that instead of investigating Bandar, the US government protected him — literally. He said the State Department assigned a security detail to help guard Bandar not only at the embassy, but also at his McLean, Va., mansion.

The source added that the task force wanted to jail a number of embassy employees, “but the embassy complained to the US attorney” and their diplomatic visas were revoked as a compromise.

Former FBI agent John Guandolo, who worked 9/11 and related al Qaeda cases out of the bureau’s Washington field office, says Bandar should have been a key suspect in the 9/11 probe.

“The Saudi ambassador funded two of the 9/11 hijackers through a third party,” Guandolo said. “He should be treated as a terrorist suspect, as should other members of the Saudi elite class who the US government knows are currently funding the global jihad.”

But Bandar held sway over the FBI.

After he met on Sept. 13, 2001, with President Bush in the White House, where the two old family friends shared cigars on the Truman Balcony, the FBI evacuated dozens of Saudi officials from multiple cities, including at least one Osama bin Laden family member on the terror watch list. Instead of interrogating the Saudis, FBI agents acted as security escorts for them, even though it was known at the time that 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi citizens.

“The FBI was thwarted from interviewing the Saudis we wanted to interview by the White House,” said former FBI agent Mark Rossini, who was involved in the investigation of al Qaeda and the hijackers. The White House “let them off the hook.”

What’s more, Rossini said the bureau was told no subpoenas could be served to produce evidence tying departing Saudi suspects to 9/11. The FBI, in turn, iced local investigations that led back to the Saudis.

“The FBI covered their ears every time we mentioned the Saudis,” said former Fairfax County Police Lt. Roger Kelly. “It was too political to touch.”

Added Kelly, who headed the National Capital Regional Intelligence Center: “You could investigate the Saudis alone, but the Saudis were ‘hands-off.’ ”

Even Anwar al-Awlaki, the hijackers’ spiritual adviser, escaped our grasp. In 2002, the Saudi-sponsored cleric was detained at JFK on passport fraud charges only to be released into the custody of a “Saudi representative.”

It wasn’t until 2011 that Awlaki was brought to justice — by way of a CIA drone strike.

Strangely, “The 9/11 Commission Report,” which followed the congressional inquiry, never cites the catch-and-release of Awlaki, and it mentions Bandar only in passing, his named buried in footnotes.

Two commission lawyers investigating the Saudi support network for the hijackers complained their boss, executive director Philip Zelikow, blocked them from issuing subpoenas and conducting interviews of Saudi suspects.

9/11 Commission member John Lehman was interested in the hijackers’ connections to Bandar, his wife and the Islamic affairs office at the embassy. But every time he tried to get information on that front, he was stonewalled by the White House.

“They were refusing to declassify anything having to do with Saudi Arabia,” Lehman was quoted as saying in the book, “The Commission.”

Did the US scuttle the investigation into foreign sponsorship of 9/11 to protect Bandar and other Saudi elite?

“Things that should have been done at the time were not done,” said Rep. Walter Jones, the North Carolina Republican who’s introduced a bill demanding President Obama release the 28 pages. “I’m trying to give you an answer without being too explicit.”

A Saudi reformer with direct knowledge of embassy involvement is more forthcoming.

“We made an ally of a regime that helped sponsor the attacks,” said Ali al-Ahmed of the Washington-based Institute for Gulf Affairs. “I mean, let’s face it.”

Obama administration admits seed money for Al-Qaeda came through Saudi Arabia:

http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-...mission-seed-money-al-qaeda-came-saudi-arabia

Following a dramatic deterioration in official diplomatic channels between the US and Saudi Arabia when over the weekend the Saudis threatened the U.S. with dumping billions in Treasuries if Congress were to pass a bill probing into their alleged support of Sept 11 terrorists in the aftermath of last weekend's 60 Minutes report on the classified "28 pages" from the Septemeber 11 commission, moments ago the Obama administration made a stunning admission, when for the first time it revealed on the record that the Saudis were the original source of funding for Al Qaeda.

As Politico reports, Obama's deputy national security adviser, Ben Rhodes, while speaking to David Axelrod in Monday's edition of "The Axe Files" podcast said that the government of Saudi Arabia had paid "insufficient attention" to money that was being funneled into terror groups and fueled the rise of Al Qaeda when he was asked about the validity of the accusation that the Saudi government was complicit in sponsoring terrorism.

At first, he tried to tone down what amount to the first official admission of Saudi involvement in September 11, saying "I think that it’s complicated in the sense that, it’s not that it was Saudi government policy to support Al Qaeda, but there were a number of very wealthy individuals in Saudi Arabia who would contribute, sometimes directly, to extremist groups. Sometimes to charities that were kind of, ended up being ways to launder money to these groups."

But moments later the truth came out when he said "So a lot of the money, the seed money if you will, for what became Al Qaeda, came out of Saudi Arabia," he added.

And then the punchline came out when Axelrod asked if "that happen without the government’s awareness?" To which Rhodes responded that he doesn’t believe the government was “actively trying to prevent that from happening."

In other words, the Saudi government knew that "a number of very wealthy Saudi individuals" were funneling funds into what would become the organization blamed for the attack on the twin towers.

As Politico adds, "the remarks from Rhodes come as Obama prepares to head to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday and confront the strained relations between the two allies. The Saudis are still fuming over an Atlantic magazine article that described Obama's frustrations with Saudi Arabia's religious ideology, its treatment of women and its rivalry with Iran. Obama also suggested in the piece that Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Arab states are "free riders" who rely too much on the U.S. military."

Friction has also been created by a push from relatives of people who died on 9/11 and a bipartisan group of lawmakers to allow U.S. courts to hold the Saudi government responsible if it is found to have played a role in the 2001 attack.

The conversation turned even more awkward when Axelrod, who as Obama's former senior advisor, knows very well of Saudi involvement with both Al Qaeda and Sept 11, pushed Rhodes on at-times awkward dynamic between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, asking, "How do you explain that to Americans, that, you know, on the one hand we call them an ally on the other hand they have these deep roots in these extremist elements?"

"I would stop short of saying that there was any willful government intention from Saudi Arabia to support Al Qaeda,” Rhodes said. “I think the difficult thing that Americans need to understand is we forge these relationships with governments because we have some shared interest with them.

In other words, the state which even the U.S. government admits is behind Al Qaeda gets a pass because "we have some shared interest with them" - a shared interest that is clearly over and beyond revealing the government's role in the biggest terrorist attack on U.S. soil.

Rhodes added that for a long time the main interest was oil and security which meant that the U.S. was “slow to pay attention to that [connection to extremist groups] because the way the relationship was set up was we just kind of thought about security and oil and didn’t kind of go that other layer down.”

But now that the U.S. has its own shale industry which incidentally is being crushed due to Saudi overproduction policy, the shared interest no longer exists.

And yet, as White House spokesman Josh Earnest reported earlier, Obama is still refusing to pass the one Bill that could finally reveal just how extensive Saudi involvment truly was in the September 11 attack.

So while we watch in shock as yet another conspiracy theory becomes conspiracy fact, we wonder how much longer will Americans tolerate a president - whether republican or democrat - who puts national interests measured in barrels of oil and avoids exposing rogue foreign billionaire murderers, above the lives of thousands of Americans killed by terrorists funded by this same government.

We also wonder if today's dramatic official admission of Saudi involvement in the Sept 11 attacks will not only infuriate even more Americans disenchanted with the fake left-right political divide, but also whether it will be grounds for US bond yields to tick up a few basis points tomorrow if Saudi Arabia finally decide to make good on its threat launch a warning salvo to the Obama administration to end the very "undiplomatic" revelations by selling a few billions in 10 Year bonds.

Giuliani says a Saudi Prince gave him a check for $10 million in wake of 9/11.

"'I was given a check by a Saudi Arabian prince for $10million and he had the tumerity [sic] to put out a press release blaming America and Israel for the attack on September 11th,' he said on Fox and Friends.

'I can't tell you what I said when I decided to tear up the check and give it back to him because I can't repeat it on television

'His money he can keep and go burn it in hell.

'I don't only need to know but the American people need to know exactly what was the role of the Saudi Arabian government in the attacks

'We are entitled to know who killed our loved ones and who almost killed all of us.'"

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...bama-cozies-King-Salman-trip-Middle-East.html

My take on this is that Guliani is probably not guilt free in exactly what went down on 9/11 and he is getting out there ahead of this to present a holy moralist image in order to protect himself if more information comes to light that could implicate him.

Why is he only just now mentioning this little $10 million detail?

It should be obvious now to everyone that Saudi Arabia played a very crucial role in the 9/11 attacks and the very cozy relationship U.S. Officials had and continue to have with Saudi Arabia implicates elements of the U.S. Government.

It's official: 9/11 was an inside job!!!

I had a e-mail exchange with the Architects and Engineers for the 9/11 Truth, concerning their petition.

With their permission, I publish it here:

Hello,

I'm Ilya (or "Vortex"), from Russia. I'm glad to see that you now have more than 2 500 architects and engineers as signers of your petition... and the number of general public signers is quickly approaching 21 000.

So, I want to ask: will you issue a new petition for the 15th anniversary of 9/11 events? The current one was made several years ago, with more than 2 000 professional signers... but more than 2 500 professional signers is even better, isn't it?

And - may I share your reply with others on the open internet forum Skeptiko (http://www.skeptiko-forum.com/), dedicated to the controversial topics in science, scholarship and society?

Waiting for your response - and thanks for your attention!

Ilya.

Ilya,

Sorry for the delay in responding.

We appreciate your writing to us with your idea.

Though we will not be creating a new petition, we will send the existing petition to every member of Congress (again) when we reach 3,000 architects and engineers.

In the meantime, please notice that we have updated our AE logo (see www.AE911Truth.org) to reflect the fact that there are now 2,500 architect and engineer signatories.

Thank you for your interest. You may share this email.

All the best

Article In Saudi Daily: U.S. Planned, Carried Out 9/11 Attacks – But Blames Others For Them

http://www.memri.org/report/en/0/0/0/0/0/0/9202.htm

"Saudi legal expert Katib Al-Shammari, who argued that the U.S. itself had planned and carried out 9/11, while placing the blame on a shifting series of others – first Al-Qaeda and the Taliban, then Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq, and now Saudi Arabia. He wrote that American threats to reveal documents that supposedly point to Saudi involvement in 9/11 are part of standard U.S. policy of exposing archival documents to use as leverage against various countries – which he calls "victory by means of archives.""

No that was never part of the ct'ers argument.
As we can read there was a conspiracy involving foreign governments not the US government.
