A happy nihilist cartoon

"So .... our lives are meaningless ... big whoop!" You can try to convey a pretty picture using donuts as an illustration but we still end up with a very bleak worldview. Oh well. "Isn't that awesome?" Cheers!

My opinion: If you think life is meaningless it is not a problem for philosophy, it is a problem for brain chemsitry. Eating a donut could cause you to produce insulin which could increase tryptophan uptake into your brain, which could increase serotonin levels, which could make you feel better. So really, the solution to the problem of the meaning of life could be: eat a donut.

I don't really support materialist views on topics such as this. One may as well go the whole hog and embrace determinism too. That would round things off nicely.

Some of the comments below the comic strip are interesting, It's amazing to me that many people take such comfort in a
nihilist worldview. I don't particularly understand myself. Oh well ... I'm enjoying a freshly baked donut as I type this so I can increase my serotonin levels. ;)

Now you're making me want to go to Krispy Kreme get a box FULL jelly donuts. My favorite kind.

I consider myself an expert on hacking my own brain chemicals.

So I don't really care about whether it fits with a philosophy or not. While there can be exceptions to most principles, and not everyone is exactly alike, I am speaking of facts. Philosophies should be adapted to account for facts not the other way around.

The brain is a filter of consciousness.
